If something on your Pixel changed, first identify what you noticed: a home-screen card, a gesture that responds to a tap or movement, an app-based suggestion, a display color or brightness change, or a Quick Settings tile. Then search Settings for the feature name shown on screen and use its matching control below. Menu names and availability vary by Pixel model and Android version; not every Pixel has every feature.
Start with what changed
- A tile or control appears after swiping down: check Quick Settings.
- A card or date-area item appears on the home screen: check At a Glance.
- Your phone suggests information based on apps or activity: check Magic Cue, if it is available on your device.
- A tap or swipe triggers an action: check the gesture settings. Quick Tap and Pixel 4 Motion Sense have different controls.
- The screen looks warmer, cooler, or otherwise different: check Display & touch; the path can depend on your model.
If none of these matches, open Settings and search for the feature name, the wording on the prompt, or a related term such as “gesture,” “display,” or “suggestions.” You can usually restore your preferred behavior by reversing the same toggle or selecting the earlier action. There is no single universal undo control for Pixel settings.

Use Quick Settings for a tile or panel change
Swipe down once from the top of the screen to see the first Quick Settings controls. Swipe down a second time to open the full panel. Tap a tile to turn its feature on or off; touch and hold a tile to open its advanced settings. If the change was to the panel layout, swipe down twice, tap Edit, then add, remove, or move tiles. Google’s Quick Settings instructions note that some steps apply to Android 11 and later.
Choose what to change on the home screen
At a Glance cards
Google says At a Glance is on by default. To disable all its cards, touch and hold the date area at the top of the home screen, open At a Glance settings, and turn off Use At a Glance. Google notes: “When it’s off, the date still displays.” (Google Pixel Help: Use At a Glance on your Pixel devices.)

If you want to keep some information, open Customize in At a Glance settings and turn off only the relevant topic or category. To hide At a Glance from the home screen without turning off its other appearance, touch and hold its area and turn off Show on home screen; Google says it can remain on the lock screen. To control sensitive lock-screen information, go to Customize > At a Glance settings > Sensitive content on lockscreen and adjust the privacy control.
Limit app-based suggestions
Magic Cue
On eligible supported phones, open Settings > Magic Cue to choose which suggestion types and data sources are enabled. This lets you limit particular suggestions without necessarily switching off every Magic Cue function. Availability depends on device and country, and access to AI features has account and age conditions; check Google’s current eligibility information before relying on the feature being available.

Exclude one third-party app
To stop an individual app from contributing through Screen Access, open Settings > Apps > [the app] > Screen Access and switch off Proactive Assistance. This excludes that app rather than disabling all Magic Cue suggestions. See Google Pixel Help: Magic Cue for current controls and eligibility details.

Quick Tap: Pixel 4a (5G) and later
Go to Settings > System > Gestures > Quick tap. Turn Quick Tap off to stop the gesture, or leave it enabled and select a different action. Quick Tap is available on Pixel 4a (5G) and later, according to Google Pixel Help.

Motion Sense: Pixel 4
Google’s Motion Sense instructions apply to Pixel 4. Go to Settings > System > Motion Sense. Use Silence interruptions to change that gesture, or open Skip songs to change the swipe direction or turn off song skipping. The page also describes Ambient display options such as Reach to check phone. Do not assume these are the controls for later Pixel models; check the menus on your device. Restore a display setting
Start at Settings > Display & touch, then check Advanced for additional options. Display controls differ by model. In Google’s current guidance, selected Pixel 10 models have Comfort View under Display & touch > Comfort filters. The Night Light path also differs: Pixel 10 phones other than Pixel 10a use a different path from Pixel 9 and earlier and Pixel 10a. If the name or path does not match what you see, search Settings for “Night Light” or “Comfort View” rather than applying instructions for another generation. Pick the narrowest change that fixes the problem
Before switching everything off, decide what you want to stop and where. A category control may remove one At a Glance card while preserving the others; hiding At a Glance from the home screen is different from disabling its cards. Magic Cue settings can limit suggestion types or data sources, while Screen Access can exclude one app. For a supported gesture, changing its assigned action may be enough; for a display issue, restoring the earlier display option may be preferable to disabling a broader feature. Confirm the model and Android version when a path or option is missing.
