That removes 5G from the phone’s preferred network options while allowing it to connect automatically to the listed 4G, 3G, and 2G networks.
Turn off 5G in Network mode

Open Settings on your Galaxy S22 Plus.

Tap Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode.

If prompted, choose the SIM or eSIM line whose network mode you want to change.

This menu path and label appear in Three UK’s Samsung Galaxy S22 5G guide, which covers Android 12. Menu labels and available modes can differ by carrier, region, SIM, and software version. Three UK’s S22 guide gives the specific steps; Samsung’s general 5G support article also advises users to find Network mode through Settings.

If Network mode or a no-5G option is missing
Use the search field in Settings and search for Network mode. If it does not appear, or the available modes all include 5G, contact your mobile carrier. Give them the phone model, software version, and the SIM or eSIM line you are trying to change. Carriers can determine whether that variant exposes the control.
Do not use Network operators as a substitute. That setting controls operator selection; it does not change whether the phone’s preferred network mode includes 5G.

What changing the mode does—and does not—guarantee
The chosen mode limits the radio technologies the phone may use for the selected line. In the Three UK guide’s example, those are 4G, 3G, and 2G, with automatic connection among them. A different carrier or software version may show a different combination, so choose an available mode that omits 5G and retains the fallback networks you want.

Changing this setting does not guarantee a particular speed, signal quality, or battery-life improvement. Samsung says Galaxy phones can fall back to 4G or 3G when 5G is unavailable, but the cited support pages do not provide a measured S22 Plus battery or speed comparison for disabling 5G.

Check carrier requirements if connectivity is the issue
Using 5G service depends on carrier support, an eligible plan, a compatible SIM, and coverage. If you are troubleshooting a connection problem rather than simply preferring a no-5G mode, Samsung and Three both point users toward their carrier when service or compatibility remains in question. A network-mode change alone cannot provide coverage or correct a plan or SIM issue.
