To turn a script into a polished AI-generated video, break it into short visual beats, build or generate a scene for each beat, add narration and captions, then review and edit the complete draft against the approved script. AI can speed up assembly, but the first pass still needs a person to check meaning, continuity, audio, captions, rights, and export settings.
1. Prepare the script before generating
Start with the version of the script you intend to publish. Identify its key points, intended audience, and call to action. Preserve exact wording wherever accuracy matters; if the structure or copy needs changing, revise the script first so later edits remain traceable.

Next, divide the script into scene cards. Make a new card when the idea, action, location, or speaker changes. Each card should capture one message, a visual cue, the voiceover intent, and something specific to verify during review. CapCut’s script-to-video guide likewise recommends preparing scene cards and checking planned beats before generating.
2. Choose a workflow that fits the project

These descriptions establish documented capabilities, not a comparative quality ranking. Choose by the amount of script control and shot-by-shot editing your video needs.

3. Turn each scene card into a clear visual
For each beat, describe what the viewer should see and what changes or moves. Specify the subject, action, setting, and useful camera or motion direction in concrete terms. Runway’s Text to Video Prompting Guide, optimized for Gen-4.5, recommends direct, clear descriptions of what is in the frame and how elements move.
Generate or select a visual for each card, then compare it with the script beat. A prompt that reads well does not guarantee that the resulting image or clip communicates the intended meaning, or that details stay consistent from one scene to the next. Replace visuals that misrepresent the message rather than trying to make the narration compensate for them.

4. Add narration, music, and captions
Choose generated speech or record your own narration. Runway documents dialogue, voiceover, and music options on its generator page. Its Character Script to Video help page describes using a character image with typed script and a selected voice, or an uploaded audio file; it also notes that the app uses credits. Check the spoken version against the approved script. Listen for mispronunciations, awkward pauses, and levels that make speech hard to hear over music. Read captions for exact wording and timing rather than assuming automatic captions are correct. 5. Edit for pace and consistency
Align each shot with the spoken beat. Tighten pauses that do not serve the message, keep transitions purposeful, and check that recurring people, objects, locations, and visual style make sense across scenes. If a shot is weak, replace it with suitable media or regenerate it; do not preserve it just because it was part of the first assembly.
Do a focused pass for audio balance and caption corrections as well as a scene-by-scene pass for script fidelity. CapCut’s guide map identifies scene consistency, replacement media, audio balance, and caption correction as distinct workflow tasks, rather than treating the generated assembly as a finished edit.

6. Review the finished cut and export
- Compare the video with the approved script. Check that every key point and call to action is represented accurately.
- Inspect each scene. Confirm that its image or clip supports the beat, and that visual continuity is intentional.
- Check voiceover and captions. Verify pronunciation, timing, wording, and intelligibility over music.
- Confirm media rights. Make sure the visuals, music, and other media are cleared for the intended use.
- Set delivery details. Match the aspect ratio and export settings to the destination. Runway documents extending or upscaling as needed and exporting when ready; use those options only when they suit the deliverable.
CapCut’s script-to-video guide cautions against calling a draft finished until its message, visuals, voiceover, captions, pacing, and rights checks agree. That is a useful final standard regardless of which tool assembled the draft.

How to assess an AI video tool for your script
- Script control: Can you provide an existing script and review proposed scenes before assembly?
- Visual workflow: Can it generate from text, images, or existing clips, and can you refine or replace weak shots?
- Narration and sound: Does it support the generated speech, uploaded narration, dialogue, or music your format requires?
- Editing and delivery: Can you fix captions, pacing, continuity, and audio, then export for your destination?
- Review effort: Try a representative section and count the corrections its draft needs. The cited product documentation does not quantify how much review different tools require.
