If Visible activation or eSIM setup is stuck, first identify whether the problem is device eligibility, eSIM installation, service after installation, or a number transfer. Each has a different fix. Check compatibility and Wi-Fi, follow the correct iPhone or Android activation flow, and allow Visible’s stated wait of up to 15 minutes before moving to its recovery steps.
Identify where the setup is failing
Separate the problem into one of four stages before repeating activation:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Eligibility: Visible rejects the phone or says it cannot use eSIM.
- Installation: the eSIM profile does not download or the cellular setup cannot be completed.
- Service: the eSIM appears installed, but calls, texts, or mobile data do not work.
- Number transfer: Visible service is active, but an existing number has not moved from the previous carrier.
A delayed number transfer is not the same as a failed eSIM installation. Visible’s iPhone activation guide, Android activation guide, service troubleshooting instructions, and number port-in guide cover these separate steps.

Activate the eSIM using the matching phone instructions
On iPhone
- Sign in to the Visible app or account and follow the activation prompts.
- When prompted, add the cellular plan. In the iPhone setup screens, select the Visible eSIM for cellular data.
- Return to the Visible app and confirm mobile data is enabled.
- Allow up to 15 minutes for service activation. Visible says a restart is not needed as part of its initial activation instructions.
On Android
- Sign in to the Visible app and complete its activation flow.
- In the phone’s SIM or mobile network settings, confirm the Visible eSIM is enabled for mobile data.
- Allow up to 15 minutes for service activation.
The 15-minute period is Visible’s published activation guidance, not a measured average or a guarantee. Its iPhone guide notes that an individual activation step may take up to five minutes or longer; do not treat that step time as the full activation window.
If the eSIM will not install, use Visible’s QR or manual fallback
Show the QR code on another screen
- Sign in to your Visible account on a second screen, such as a computer, tablet, or another phone, and display the activation QR code.
- On the phone being activated, open the cellular or SIM settings and scan the code, then follow the phone’s prompts to add the plan.
- Return to the Visible app and tap Check Status to finish the activation flow.
Visible says the QR code is only visible during activation. If an error appears at the end of the QR scan, complete the remaining cellular setup prompts and check status in the Visible app rather than stopping at the error.

Use a saved QR image on a supported iPhone
Visible’s iPhone instructions support choosing a saved QR image on iOS 17 or later. Save the QR image, then go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Open Photos and select it. Finish the setup and return to the Visible app to check status.
Enter the activation code manually on Android
If you cannot display a QR code on a second screen, choose Enter Details Manually in the Android eSIM setup. Copy the Activation Code from the Visible app and paste it into the corresponding Settings field, complete the prompts, then return to Visible and tap Check Status.

Turn Wi-Fi off before testing so you can tell whether cellular service works. Try a call, send a text, and load a webpage using mobile data. If any do not work, follow Visible’s post-activation sequence:

- Universal Carrier Compatibility: This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.)
- Carrier Verification Required: Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility
- Simple Activation Process: When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service
- Package Contents: The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable
- Battery Health Guarantee: Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%
- Wait up to 15 minutes for activation to settle, then restart the phone and test again.
- Turn Airplane mode on for at least 30 seconds, turn it off, and check service.
- In the Visible app, go to Account > Your devices > Switching phones is SIMple > Switch Now > My current phone and re-download the eSIM.
- Check whether a physical SIM is inserted or an unused eSIM profile remains. Restart again and repeat the calls, texts, and mobile-data test with Wi-Fi off.
- Confirm local coverage, install available system and Visible app updates, and check Visible’s coverage map.
Visible states that cell signal boosters and network extenders are currently not compatible with its service, so they are not a supported fix for this troubleshooting sequence.
If you are waiting for your number to transfer
For eSIM users moving an existing number, Visible’s activation instructions generally have you activate service first; the number transfer can follow through the applicable bring-your-own-device flow. If service works but the old number has not arrived, treat that as a port-in issue rather than reinstalling the eSIM.
- Open Visible’s Port Tracker and check the transfer status.
- If prompted, correct or resubmit the transfer details. Visible may ask for the old carrier account number, transfer PIN, ZIP code, phone number, and account holder’s first and last name.
- If you started the transfer after activation, Visible directs customers to begin from the app’s Home section once talk, text, and data work.
- Keep the previous carrier service active while you still need it. Visible says that account is terminated when the number port completes; it notifies you by email or in the tracker when the transfer is finished.
Visible’s porting guide includes both pre-activation and post-activation routes, so follow the route shown for your account rather than assuming every transfer starts at the same point.
When to contact Visible
If compatibility checks, the platform-specific activation flow, QR or manual recovery, and the service troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact Visible Care through the app or online chat. For a transfer error, use Port Tracker’s correction or resubmission prompts; the previous carrier may also need to help with the account number, PIN, or other transfer details.
