FramePort currently prepares Quest-targeted games to run on Valve Steam Frame; it is not documented as a Quest app for launching Steam Frame games. If you mean a game running directly on a Meta Quest headset, that is a separate troubleshooting path. The steps below cover current FramePort on Steam Frame and show how to tell setup trouble from a failure in one game.
First, confirm which device and workflow you mean
FramePort’s project README describes preparing games made for Meta Quest, Android, or general PCVR for Valve Steam Frame. It handles game files, compatibility patches, Frame setup, and Steam library shortcuts. It does not describe running FramePort on Quest. See the FramePort project README for the project’s stated scope.

FramePort also does not provide game files: its README says it does not download, share, or unlock games. You must supply legally obtained game executables. Support is title-specific: FramePort applies known configurations for tested games and may guess patches for games without a tested recipe, so one working Quest game does not establish support for all Quest games.

Work out which part of the path is failing. A computer that cannot connect to Steam Frame needs setup troubleshooting; a connected Frame that cannot start one title needs title-specific diagnosis. Also distinguish a game that opens in a flat window from one that fails to launch, loses input, or loses focus.

- 2+ HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE — Charge less, play longer and stay in the action with an improved battery that keeps up. *Based on the graphic performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform vs the Meta Quest 2 platform.
- Every game fails: Check the FramePort-to-Frame connection and look for a system-wide error.
- One game fails: Check that title’s recipe, source build, and launch logs.
- The game opens flat, or input or focus is wrong: It has launched, but its VR presentation or interaction path may be failing.
- The game works on Quest but not after porting: Treat it as a FramePort compatibility issue, not proof that the native Quest installation is broken.
For a useful diagnosis, note the game and source build, FramePort and Frame software versions, computer operating system, exact error, relevant launch-log lines, and whether other titles still start.
If FramePort cannot connect to Steam Frame
The documented initial connection requires the computer and Frame to be on the same network. Follow FramePort’s installation guide for the setup command or alternate pairing route.

- In FramePort, open the Steam Frame page and select Show setup command.
- On the Frame, open SteamVR dashboard → Launch a program → Desktop, then open Konsole from the desktop.
- Enter the command exactly as FramePort displays it. FramePort says it should connect automatically after Steam restarts.
Alternatively, enable Developer Mode in Frame settings, pair a new host, and approve the connection. If the setup command times out, the installation guide says the computer firewall may be blocking the Frame; the setup page identifies the relevant firewall after roughly 45 seconds. Confirm the shared network, keep FramePort open, and use the project’s firewall instructions rather than disabling the firewall wholesale.
If only one game will not launch
Check whether the game has a tested recipe
Open the game’s FramePort page and consult the tested-games list. Tested titles receive their best-known configuration automatically; for other titles, FramePort may guess likely patches. The game’s source build matters, so record it when comparing your result with a listed configuration.

Run the documented test path and observe the headset
Use FramePort’s scan, show, build, install, and test sequence as described in its troubleshooting playbook. A headless test cannot show what the game looks like: wear the headset, confirm the game is focused, and inspect whether it appears in VR or a flat window. The playbook treats a 32-bit-only game as a stop condition; repeatedly changing patches is not the recommended remedy.
Match the remedy to the symptom and log
The playbook describes several distinct cases, not universal Quest fixes. For example, an Android manifest missing the LAUNCHER category can prevent the app activity from starting. Some PCVR failures involve an OpenXR API-version mismatch; certain Oculus-only PCVR cases may depend on Revive or a running SteamVR runtime. Use the specific patch or setup remedy documented for the matching symptom rather than applying all patches at once.

If all games fail, check for a system-wide error
The playbook documents an advanced Frame-wide case involving rootless Podman: a kernel keyring can leak on each launch until a key quota is exhausted. Reported errors include “Disk quota exceeded” and “is not a running context.” This is relevant only when the matching symptoms appear, not as a first-line fix for a single title.
For that documented case, the stated fix is to set keyring = false in ~/.config/containers/containers.conf and reboot the Frame once; FramePort says its agent handles this setting. Follow the project’s instructions and confirm the error matches before changing this configuration.
Report an unresolved FramePort failure
If the title’s recipe does not resolve the problem, use Report a problem… in the game menu. FramePort’s installation guide says the diagnostic archive includes logs, the recipe, and device details, with personal data such as IP addresses, user names, home folders, and Steam IDs replaced. For a configuration that works, the README also describes Share working config…. Reporting gives maintainers useful evidence; it does not guarantee a fix.
If the game is failing directly on a Meta Quest headset
Native Quest app troubleshooting is separate from FramePort-on-Steam-Frame troubleshooting. A Meta community support thread suggests checking whether all apps or only selected apps fail, whether the app came from the official Meta store, whether the headset is current, whether another Wi-Fi network changes the result, and whether Home itself is affected. That thread is a community discussion, not a FramePort procedure.
Meta’s Horizon OS compatibility-mode documentation says compatibility mode uses an app’s com.oculus.supportedDevices manifest entry to choose a compatibility model for a device the app does not list. It changes selected API-reported device information, but “Compatibility mode does not change CPU or GPU speed.” This background does not establish why a title fails through FramePort on Steam Frame.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For one Quest game, Square Enix Support advises waiting up to three minutes while data loads on the initial launch or the first launch after a Horizon OS firmware update. That is publisher-specific guidance for its own game, not a universal timeout for Quest apps or FramePort titles.
