Do you mean AMD Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), or Sony’s QSSR? AMD’s PC documentation describes RSR, not a Radeon feature called QSSR; the available identification of QSSR relates it to PlayStation and does not establish it as an installable Radeon PC feature. This guide covers troubleshooting AMD RSR only. If you mean a PlayStation feature, these Radeon driver steps do not apply.
First confirm which feature you mean
AMD calls its driver-level PC upscaler Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), powered by AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology. AMD’s instructions do not identify it as QSSR. The available QSSR reference associates that name with PlayStation, but no official Sony or PlayStation support source is established here, so the two names should not be treated as interchangeable. See AMD’s RSR setup FAQ and the PlayStation support site to verify the product context.

If your issue is with a PlayStation feature called QSSR, use the relevant PlayStation game or system support instructions rather than installing an AMD Radeon driver. If you have a Windows PC with a Radeon GPU and want driver-based upscaling, continue with the RSR checks below.

Check whether your PC and driver meet RSR requirements
AMD’s setup FAQ, updated June 25, 2025, lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 desktop systems, a discrete Radeon RX 5000 Series GPU or newer, or a select AMD Advantage system, and a full installation of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.7.1 or later. AMD’s separate RSR feature page still lists Adrenalin 22.3.1 as its minimum. Because AMD’s pages differ, use the newer setup FAQ as the practical setup reference and do not assume the older minimum guarantees current support.

Confirm the exact graphics product, Windows edition and version, and driver package before troubleshooting the game. Release notes are package-specific. For example, AMD’s Adrenalin 25.9.1 release notes list supported RX 9000, RX 7000, RX 6000, and RX 5000 product families, with Windows 10 64-bit version 19044 or later and Windows 11 version 21H2 or later, subject to product-specific variation. Those details describe version 25.9.1; check the release notes for the package you actually install rather than assuming that version is the newest or universally applicable.
Install the right Adrenalin package
- Identify your GPU and Windows version. Compare them with the supported products and operating systems in the release notes for the driver package you plan to use.
- Use a full Adrenalin installation. The RSR setup FAQ specifies a full installation of Adrenalin 22.7.1 or later. A minimal or incomplete installation may not provide the settings shown in AMD’s instructions.
- Run the installer with the required permissions. AMD’s 25.9.1 notes say that package’s installer requires Administrator rights. Follow the permissions specified for your chosen release.
- For a laptop or all-in-one PC, check the manufacturer’s driver option. AMD’s 25.9.1 notes recommend using the OEM-provided driver for full support and compatibility if AMD’s downloaded package causes problems. This is version-specific guidance, so check the current release notes and your PC manufacturer’s support page.
AMD’s 25.9.1 notes exclude Apple Boot Camp and specify supported operating systems and products with qualifications. Do not use those details as a universal rule for other driver releases; consult the notes for the exact package and device.

Enable RSR in AMD Software
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and search for Graphics.
- Open Graphics Settings, then enable Radeon Super Resolution under Global Graphics.
- To enable it for one game instead, open that game’s application profile in AMD Software and switch on RSR there.
- Expect the display to blank briefly when RSR is enabled: AMD says enabling it also enables GPU Scaling under Global Display and may momentarily blank the screen.
AMD’s illustrated setup uses Adrenalin 25.6.1 Full Install and an RX 9070, and AMD cautions that settings can vary by system. If your interface differs, the exact available controls may depend on your hardware and software configuration.

RSR does not activate just because its switch is on. The game must render at a resolution lower than the monitor’s native resolution; at native resolution, there is nothing for RSR to upscale. Lower the game’s resolution in its video or display settings, while leaving the monitor at its native output resolution.

AMD’s setup FAQ says RSR works in exclusive full-screen or borderless full-screen games. Its feature page specifies exclusive full-screen. If RSR remains inactive, try exclusive full-screen first, then test borderless full-screen if the game and driver support it. The mode labels and behavior can vary by game.

Choose the game’s FSR option when available
If a game includes AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), AMD recommends using the in-game implementation because it can be optimized for that title. Keep RSR off in that game when using FSR: stacking the two can duplicate upscaling work and reduce image quality.
Check features that RSR disables
AMD says RSR cannot run simultaneously with every Adrenalin feature. When RSR is enabled, it automatically disables Radeon Chill, Radeon Image Sharpening, and Integer Scaling. If one of those settings appears unavailable, that may be the expected interaction rather than an installation fault.

If RSR still will not activate
- Reconfirm the feature name. Make sure the problem concerns Radeon Super Resolution on a Windows Radeon PC, not a PlayStation feature described as QSSR.
- Recheck eligibility. Verify the GPU, operating system, and full driver installation against AMD’s setup FAQ and the release notes for the installed package.
- Confirm the correct toggle. Check RSR under Global Graphics or in the affected game’s application profile.
- Test the activation conditions. Use a game resolution below the monitor’s native resolution and a supported full-screen mode.
- Remove feature conflicts. Turn off in-game FSR when testing RSR, and account for Radeon Chill, Radeon Image Sharpening, and Integer Scaling being disabled by RSR.
- Check package-specific notes and OEM guidance. Review the release notes for known compatibility details; for a laptop or all-in-one, try the manufacturer’s driver route if AMD’s package causes problems, as advised in the cited 25.9.1 notes.
