Why does Meta Muse misunderstand my family’s requests?
A household request can bundle several people, dates, preferences, and constraints into one message. If those details are not clearly attached to the right person or task, Muse may respond using the wrong one. A prior preference may also differ from what someone wants now, or information in a connected service may be incomplete or outdated. These are useful possibilities to check, not confirmed explanations for any particular mistake.

Meta describes Muse as a personal AI agent that can remember details, browse, and work with connected services. It also says the user chooses which services to connect and how much access to allow. That means a response could involve information beyond the latest chat message, but the answer alone does not show whether it came from a connection, a remembered detail, or another source. Meta’s September 8, 2026 launch announcement describes these capabilities and controls.
Why does Muse give me conflicting answers?
First identify what conflicts: the answer may contradict something Muse said earlier, a current household instruction, a remembered preference, or information in a connected app. Separate those possibilities before trying to fix the issue. A changed instruction is not necessarily an error if the new request was meant to replace the old one.

Meta does not publish a dedicated troubleshooting flow for family-request misunderstandings or a measured rate of conflicting answers. In its September 8, 2026 safety article, Meta AI Research says: “Muse can and will still make mistakes, but we expect they’ll be much less frequent and cause much less damage due to the safety systems we’ve built in.” This is Meta’s description of its expectations, not an independent measure of reliability.
How do I get Muse to use the right family details?
- Pin down the mismatch. Keep the original request and the replies that conflict. Note the precise person, date, preference, or constraint that was misunderstood instead of treating the problem as a general memory failure.
- Give one structured correction. State who is involved, what you need, and which conditions are firm. Separate hard constraints from preferences. For example: “Plan dinner for four: two adults and two children. One child has a peanut allergy. Keep the meal vegetarian and ready by 6 p.m. If any detail conflicts with what I said earlier, list the conflict and ask me before choosing.” This is an illustrative prompt, not a guaranteed fix.
- Ask Muse to check its facts before answering. Request that it repeat the details it plans to use and identify missing or contradictory information first. If it repeats a wrong detail, correct that specific fact and ask for a new answer.
- Check a connected service if it may be relevant. If the answer appears to rely on a calendar, email, or another connected app, review the information there and the connection’s access settings. Correct stale source data, reduce access, or disconnect the service if it is unnecessary. Meta says users can manage or disconnect services; this does not establish that a particular answer came from one.
- Correct a remembered detail directly. Tell Muse which specific learned detail has changed or is wrong, then ask it to forget or replace that detail. Meta says users can ask Muse to forget specific things it has learned. That control should not be taken to mean every copy of the information is erased or that future answers are guaranteed to be correct.
How do I stop Muse from acting on the wrong information?
A chat correction and approval for an action are separate safeguards. If Muse is asked to send something, make a purchase, book, or change information, read the proposed action and the approval prompt before allowing it. Deny an action that does not match the corrected request. Use Muse’s activity trail to review what it has done or plans to do; Meta describes both an audit trail and approval for certain actions.

These controls help you supervise actions, but they do not prove that an answer in chat is factually correct. Meta AI Research describes Sentinel as the permission authority for connector actions and network access, and says Muse can make mistakes. The safety article also notes: “Prompt injection remains an open problem in the industry — and Muse will sometimes make mistakes.” That statement concerns safety and adversarial content; it is not a finding about family requests in particular. Try the same request again with the correction stated explicitly, then check any relevant connection and remembered detail. If the mismatch persists, report it through the support or feedback channel available in the app or service. The official sources cited here do not specify a Muse-specific route for this particular issue, so the exact menu or escalation path may vary.

Meta says paid access offers more usage, but its launch and product materials do not say that upgrading fixes misunderstandings or inconsistent answers. The product page describes Muse availability through Meta’s app or WhatsApp, along with a free usage limit and a paid upgrade option; availability and limits may depend on the service and account.
