A Manor Lords LowLevelFatalError is a crash label, not a diagnosis. The full error text and when the game fails help narrow down whether you are dealing with a Direct3D problem, an access violation, or something else. Start by recording the exact message, then work through reversible checks before changing launch settings or hardware.
Capture the full error and when the crash happens
Before changing anything, note whether Manor Lords exits immediately, reaches a splash or black screen, or crashes after you have started playing. Copy the complete LowLevelFatalError text and save any runtime XML or crash log that appears.

The shared error label can hide different failures. One player report describes a D3D11 CreateUnorderedAccessView failure with E_INVALIDARG; another startup report describes an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Those details point to different troubleshooting paths, and neither report establishes a universal cause. See the D3D11 error discussion and the startup crash discussion.
Compare your PC with Manor Lords’ listed requirements
Steam’s Manor Lords listing gives these minimum and recommended specifications. Meeting the minimum is a comparison point, not a guarantee that the game will start or that a particular crash will be fixed.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4670 or AMD FX-Series FX-4350 | Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (2 GB), AMD Radeon RX-460 (4 GB), or Intel Arc A380 (6 GB) | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB), AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB), or Intel Arc A580 (8 GB) |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Available storage | 15 GB | 15 GB |
These requirements are listed on Steam’s Manor Lords page. Compare your actual GPU model and VRAM, processor, RAM, Windows version, DirectX support, and free storage. If you use a laptop with integrated and discrete graphics, check that Windows or your graphics control panel assigns the game to the intended high-performance GPU; this is a diagnostic check, not proof that hybrid graphics caused the crash.
Try reversible fixes first
- Update the game. Install any available update for the game and note the branch or build you are running.
- Verify the game files in Steam. In your Library, right-click Manor Lords, choose Properties, open Installed Files, and select Verify integrity of game files. Wait for Steam to finish, then try launching again.
- Update your graphics driver. Get the current driver for your GPU from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, as applicable. Avoid using an unofficial driver package as a shortcut.
- Remove old launch options. In Steam, open the game’s Properties and check the General page for text in Launch Options. Remove flags added during earlier troubleshooting unless you are deliberately testing one option described below.
- Isolate overlays and overclocks. Temporarily close overlays and monitoring tools, and return any custom GPU or CPU overclock to its normal setting. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it affected the crash.
These are community-supported troubleshooting checks, not confirmed cures for every crash. A Steam community reply also recommends verifying files and checking graphics selection; it does not establish that either step resolves all cases. See the community troubleshooting discussion.

Test a graphics API launch option only for a relevant D3D11 error
If the full message specifically contains the D3D11 CreateUnorderedAccessView and E_INVALIDARG details, one player reported that -dx11 worked on their system. The same May 2024 post suggests trying -d3d11 separately if the first option does not start the game. This is anecdotal advice, not a developer-confirmed or current universal workaround.
- In Steam Library, right-click Manor Lords and choose Properties.
- On the General page, enter
-dx11in Launch Options and try starting the game. - If that does not help, remove
-dx11before testing-d3d11. Do not combine the two flags. - Record whether the game starts and whether the error changes. Remove the option if it does not help.
The report is in the D3D11 error discussion. Do not assume either flag applies to an access-violation crash or another error signature.

- In The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, fight on the side of Aragorn, Gandolf, Gimli, Legolas and other companions against the armies of Mordor. To defeat your enemies, you must form fellowships of companions and send them to battle.
- While building your fellowships, the Eye of Sauron is always vigilant, so you must beware of a counterattack.
- The player that defeats the most powerful hordes from Mordor wins the game!
- Contents include: 43 ring cards, 21 enemy cards, 4 guide cards, gameboard and instructions
- For 2-4 players ages 8+, 15 minute playing time
Check mods and security quarantine if the game will not start
If you have installed mods, temporarily remove them using the mod’s documented removal method, then test the unmodified game. A December 2025 startup report led a community member to ask whether mods were installed; it did not confirm that a mod caused the crash. The startup crash discussion provides that context.
For a black-screen or no-start symptom, review your security software’s quarantine history for a game file. A community thread raises antivirus quarantine as a possibility, but does not verify it as the cause. Do not broadly disable antivirus or restore an unfamiliar file based only on a forum post. Restore or allow a file only after confirming it is a legitimate Manor Lords file, then verify the game files through Steam.

- For 2-6 players
- 60 minute playing time
- Scoundrels of skull port adds brand new content for owners of the Lords Of water deep. It is not one, but two, complete expansions, the sprawling dungeon of under Mountain and the criminal Haven of skull port.
- Adds a 6th player to the game.
Contact Manor Lords support with a useful crash report
If the checks do not resolve the crash, Steam’s Manor Lords technical-support page lists [email protected]. Steam describes its community discussions as a place for players to suggest solutions to problems; community advice should not be mistaken for an official diagnosis.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Include the information support needs to distinguish your case:
- The complete error text and any crash log or runtime XML.
- Whether the crash happens before loading, at a splash or black screen, or during play.
- Your GPU model and VRAM, CPU, installed RAM, and Windows version.
- Your storefront, game branch, and build.
- Which checks you tried and whether each changed the symptom.
Steam’s listed support contact and game requirements are on its Manor Lords store page. The reports reviewed do not establish one fix for every LowLevelFatalError; the complete error details are the most useful starting point.
