Google publishes separate requirements for individual features, and availability can vary or roll out gradually.
Start with the exact feature and where you expect to use it
Identify the missing capability and the surface where you’re looking for it: gemini.google.com, the Gemini mobile app, Gemini in Chrome, Gemini Live, or a connected app. Open Google’s help page for that specific feature and check its supported platform, account type, age, language, and region. Requirements differ between features, and some availability is staged, so eligibility does not guarantee that a feature will appear immediately. Confirm that your account can use Gemini
Make sure you’re signed in with the account you intend to use. Some Gemini web features may be available without signing in, but additional features and activity saving require a Google Account. Age requirements vary by account type and country. Google’s Gemini Apps access requirements explains the current conditions.
If you see “Something went wrong” while signing in, don’t assume your device is faulty. Google says access can be blocked because of factors such as location, age, or account type, and suggests trying again later. Review its sign-in troubleshooting guidance.

Check Connected Apps and activity settings
For a personal account, review Keep Activity and Connected Apps if the missing feature relies on a connected service. Google says turning Keep Activity off makes Connected Apps unavailable on the web, iOS, and smart watches, with limited exceptions for some Android apps. Follow the Connected Apps settings instructions for your account and platform.
Work and school accounts use separate guidance and may be controlled by an organization. Don’t assume personal-account settings apply to a managed account; check Google’s Gemini Apps settings for work or school accounts.

For work or school accounts, check access with your administrator
On a managed mobile account, install the latest Gemini app version and ask your Workspace administrator to confirm that Gemini access is enabled. Some features depend on the organization’s Workspace edition or license, and a school may need to enable access. Google’s Workspace guidance for Gemini Apps outlines account and administrator considerations.

A caregiver should check that Gemini Apps is enabled for the child in Family Link. Also confirm that the child’s device, language, and region meet Google’s requirements in its Gemini Apps guidance for children and teens. Google says a change can take a few hours to take effect. If access is still missing after that, restart Gemini.
If Gemini in Chrome is missing
Check that you’re signed into an eligible Chrome profile and are in a supported country. If the feature should be available but isn’t appearing, Google recommends these checks in its Gemini in Chrome troubleshooting guide:
- Restart Chrome and check whether recent travel may have affected your detected location.
- Turn off a VPN, if you’re using one, and confirm that your language and operating system are supported.
- Update Chrome. If needed, reset Chrome flags to their defaults.
- Reload the Gemini side panel and check whether your environment is restricted, such as a virtualized setup.
- If this is a managed device or profile, ask your administrator whether Gemini in Chrome is disabled.
If it remains unavailable, use the feedback option described in Google’s Chrome guide; you can include a screenshot if it helps explain the issue.

If Gemini’s Android assistant features don’t work
For an Android activation problem, check that the Google app is selected as the device’s default digital assistant. If “Hey Google” is the issue, review the “Hey Google” and Voice Match settings. Google also notes that some Google Assistant features are not supported in Gemini; if Gemini cannot provide a particular function, switch to Assistant for that task. Escalate with the right information
If you’ve checked the feature’s requirements, account access, relevant settings, and platform-specific guidance, use the feedback path on the applicable Google Help Center page. For a work or school account, ask the Workspace administrator to verify policy and license access. Describe the feature, where you’re trying to use it, and the account type so the issue can be routed appropriately.
