Also establish whether the failure occurs in Game Mode or Desktop Mode. Game Mode runs the title through Steam’s Gamescope session, where the recent focus fix is relevant. Choose a Proton version for the affected game
Steam provides a per-game compatibility setting. In Game Mode, use this path:
- Open Library and highlight the affected game.
- Press the Menu button.

Keep the purchase source in your report: EA confirms that a Steam purchase may require the EA app, while an EA app purchase cannot be moved to Steam. Support will need that distinction to investigate a license or linking error.
