DISM Error 1734 does not identify a specific cause, and the message alone does not point to an array or a particular Windows component. Start by checking the image’s health with Microsoft’s DISM workflow, then review the full DISM log and, if relevant, the CBS log. Treat /RestoreHealth as the documented repair method for an image DISM reports as repairable—not as a guaranteed fix for Error 1734.
What DISM Error 1734 tells you
The reported message is: “Error: 1734 The array bounds are invalid. The DISM log file can be found at C:WINDOWSLogsDISMdism.log”. It indicates that DISM encountered an error during a servicing operation, but the message does not establish why it happened.

Microsoft’s general image-repair documentation explains how to check image health and attempt repair; it is not a diagnosis of Error 1734. Microsoft Q&A threads describe the error in different Windows Server servicing situations, but they are individual reports rather than a confirmed root-cause analysis or a validated universal fix. Do not infer from the wording that an array, keyboard, package, or specific Windows component is responsible.

Check the Windows image before attempting repair
Run these commands in an elevated Command Prompt or Terminal. Microsoft documents /CheckHealth for reporting the image’s health state, /ScanHealth for scanning it, and /RestoreHealth for repairing an image that is repairable. See Microsoft’s Repair a Windows Image guidance.

-
Open Command Prompt or Terminal as an administrator.
-
Check the reported image state:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth. Note whether DISM reports the image as healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. -
Scan the image:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth. Record the complete output, including any error code and the point at which the operation fails.Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

If DISM reports the image as repairable, attempt the documented repair:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. This is the general Microsoft repair workflow, not a guaranteed remedy for Error 1734.
If the image is reported as non-repairable, or the operation fails again, do not treat repeated attempts as a diagnosis. Preserve the output and logs so the specific failing servicing operation can be investigated.
Choose a repair source only when you can verify it
DISM can use a specified repair source with /RestoreHealth. The source must contain suitable files for the image being repaired and be available at the path you provide. Microsoft also documents /LimitAccess, which prevents DISM from using Windows Update as a repair source. Use it only when you intend to restrict access to Windows Update and have a suitable alternate source.
Rank #3
The general command form is DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:<path>. Add /LimitAccess only if you want to prevent Windows Update from being used. Confirm that the source is appropriate for the system and servicing operation; a path that exists is not, by itself, proof that it contains the needed repair files.

One Windows Server 2016 Q&A report describes a WIM-source attempt that returned 0x800f081f, but the report does not establish why that source failed or identify a universally suitable WIM index. Do not assume that the same source, index, or command variation will resolve Error 1734 on another system.
Use the logs to investigate the actual failure
Read the complete DISM log at C:WindowsLogsDISMdism.log. If package-servicing details are involved, also examine %WINDIR%LogsCBSCBS.log. Microsoft Q&A discussions request CBS details in some servicing cases, but the available reports do not establish one log signature that diagnoses Error 1734 in every case.
For a useful record, capture the logs around a fresh reproduction and note:
-
The Windows edition, version, and build.
-
The exact command run, whether the session was elevated, and when the failure occurred.

Compare the failing operation and its HRESULT in the logs rather than relying only on the final console line. Without that context, naming a package or component as the cause would be speculation.

A Windows Server 2016 Q&A report described a physical keyboard-input problem that led its poster to run DISM. The poster later said an update to a particular version of RMM software resolved the keyboard input, while the DISM errors remained unresolved. That report does not show that RMM software caused Error 1734 or that changing it repairs the Windows image.
Other Q&A reports mention Error 1734 in different servicing contexts. These cases can help show that the same message may arise in different circumstances, but they do not establish that one reported trigger or solution applies to your system. Diagnose each symptom on its own evidence.
What to do if the error persists
If the documented scan and repair workflow does not resolve the issue, use the captured DISM and CBS logs alongside the exact Windows build and command when seeking help from your organization’s administrator or Microsoft support. The available reports do not validate a particular update, repeated repair attempt, ISO index, RMM change, or repair installation as a universal Error 1734 solution. Before any major server recovery or servicing change, account for backups and the effect on workloads.
