If the phone will not charge or turn on, work through the cable, adapter, outlet, and port before escalating. Persistent display, power, or hardware symptoms call for Google diagnostics or repair—not improvised work on the foldable screen.
Start with software problems: freezing, crashes, camera, or connectivity
For common software symptoms, Google recommends restarting the phone, updating Android and apps, and testing in Safe Mode. Safe Mode temporarily disables downloaded apps, so if a problem disappears there—especially one that began after installing an app—a downloaded app may be involved. Safe Mode does not establish that the Fold’s hardware is healthy. See Google’s general Pixel troubleshooting steps for the current instructions.

- Restart the phone and install available Android and app updates.
- Try Safe Mode and check whether the same symptom occurs.
- If the issue persists in Safe Mode or after updates, use on-device diagnostics or contact support rather than treating the software checks as a hardware diagnosis.
Google’s Pixel troubleshooting index also links to guidance for battery drain, Bluetooth, camera behavior, and freezing. It notes that a slight rattle from camera focusing components can be normal on Pixel phones; that general note alone does not diagnose a Pixel Fold fault.
Why won’t my Pixel Fold charge or turn on?
Google’s power and charging guidance covers a phone that will not turn on, shows a blank screen, turns off immediately, will not charge, stops at a certain percentage, or charges slowly. Begin with a wired charging setup and check each part before assuming the Fold needs repair. A deeply discharged phone may need to sit on a known-working charger before its screen responds.

- Remove the case if it interferes with the cable or charging connection.
- Confirm the outlet works, then check that the cable is firmly connected at both ends.
- Inspect the charging port for debris; do not force anything into it.
- Try a known-working cable and adapter. Leave the phone connected for a while if its battery may be extremely low.
For the best battery experience and charging speeds, Google recommends a PPS adapter rated 30 W or higher, or a USB Power Delivery adapter rated 15 W or higher. Actual charging speeds vary by Pixel model, so this general recommendation does not promise a particular Pixel Fold charging rate. A compatible adapter can help identify a faulty or unsupported charger, but it cannot fix a damaged port or another hardware fault. Read Google’s charging and power troubleshooting guidance.
If the phone seems to charge but the screen stays blank
Try rebooting and check whether the phone rings. If it rings while the display remains blank, Google advises seeking screen support or repair. If you are considering a manual reset, know that it erases the phone’s data; back up first if the phone is accessible and a backup is possible.

Why is my Pixel Fold battery draining quickly?
Update Android, use Adaptive Charging, and keep the phone in a dry environment at room temperature, as Google recommends in its Pixel battery guidance. Battery life can vary with use and conditions; the available guidance does not establish a universal Pixel Fold battery-life figure, a Fold-specific failure rate, or a fixed replacement interval.

For a device-level check, open Settings > Device health & support. On Pixel 6 and later, including Fold, this area can show battery and temperature summaries and available diagnostics. What appears depends on the feature and device. Google describes the available checks in its Device Health and Support guidance.

What should I do about screen flicker, tint, lines, or damage?
For flickering, a green tint, or horizontal or vertical lines, first check for a system update. If the symptom continues, contact Google or arrange repair. Google’s guidance treats cracks and dead pixels as repair cases; updates are a check, not a fix for physical damage. See Google’s Pixel display troubleshooting steps.
Take particular care with the foldable display when cleaning it. Google warns: “When cleaning your device, never pick at the edges or attempt to remove the protective film as doing so can harm the foldable display.” Do not peel the factory film, probe the inner display edges, or attempt an improvised hinge or display repair. Google’s Pixel troubleshooting index includes this foldable-device caution.

How do I run Pixel Fold diagnostics?
On the phone, go to Settings > Device health & support to review device status, battery and temperature information, available diagnostic checks, warranty details, and support or repair entry points. Google says Device Health and Support is available on Pixel 6 and later, including Fold. Diagnostic categories and availability vary by feature and device, so use the options shown on your phone.

When should I choose repair instead of more troubleshooting?
Use the pattern of the symptom to decide what to do next. If a software issue changes after an update or in Safe Mode, investigate downloaded apps; if it persists, continue to diagnostics or support. Visible damage, a persistent blank or faulty display, or a Fold that still will not charge or turn on after basic checks are reasons to seek repair guidance. Google’s repair options depend on the device, warranty, and country or region.
Start with Google’s repair flow, select the device and issue, and review the available mail-in or walk-in options. Select all applicable damage and check the terms before sending the phone or visiting a repair location; charges may apply for damage not covered by warranty. The cited guidance does not establish country-specific prices or repair times.
Is self-repair a good option?
Google documents self-repair using genuine parts, manuals, and tools through iFixit, but recommends it only for people with relevant technical experience. Inexperienced repair work can cause injury or further device damage. Supported devices, parts, and countries vary; check the current Google self-repair information before deciding. Do not assume a particular Pixel Fold part, procedure, or price is available without checking for your model and location.
