If you’re moving from Android to a new OPPO, try the copy option offered during setup or use OPPO Clone Phone. If the transfer stalls, check the connection and the exact data that arrived before you restart or reset anything. The right steps differ if you’re moving from an iPhone, skipped setup, or are restoring a Google backup.
Which transfer method should you use?
For an Android-to-Android move, start with the copy flow offered during the new phone’s setup. Google’s setup flow supports transferring by cable or wirelessly, with the same data categories available through either route. OPPO’s Clone Phone pairs devices with a QR code and a short-range connection. Screens and capabilities can vary by model and software version, so use the method actually shown on your phones. - Charge both phones and make sure you can unlock the old one.
- Connect to the internet and check that the OPPO has enough free storage.
- For Clone Phone, keep the devices close, turn on Wi-Fi on the old phone, and enable the new OPPO’s personal hotspot.
- Allow Clone Phone to find and connect to nearby devices or use the local network when prompted.
- If the new OPPO already contains data, back it up first: OPPO warns that Clone Phone can overwrite existing apps and app data.
Google says an Android setup transfer can take from a few minutes to over an hour, depending on how much data is being copied. OPPO’s transfer steps are described in its Clone Phone guide.

Why is the Android-to-OPPO transfer stuck?
For Google’s setup copy, if there has been no progress for more than 15 minutes, tap “Stop copying” and check what transferred. The threshold and advice are from Google’s transfer troubleshooting guide.
- If a cable came loose or a phone ran out of battery, reconnect or recharge, then retry. Google says restarting the transfer is usually possible.
- If the transfer remains stuck, first check the new phone for data that did arrive and confirm you have a backup of anything important before trying again.
- Whether you can resume or repeat the copy after setup depends on the phone. A factory reset may be needed to repeat the setup flow, but do not reset until you have checked backups and data already on the OPPO.
For a wired copy, check that the cable is a data cable and that its connectors fit both phones. A compatible cable or adapter is only needed if you choose the wired route.

Why won’t Clone Phone connect or scan the QR code?
Clone Phone cannot connect
- Move the phones close together. Turn on Wi-Fi on the old phone and the personal hotspot on the new OPPO.
- Start Clone Phone on the OPPO and follow its pairing instructions. When using another Android phone or an iPhone, scan the displayed QR code and accept the prompt to join the Wi-Fi network.
- Allow the requested device-finding or local-network permissions. If you denied them earlier, change Clone Phone’s app permissions in Settings, then try pairing again.
Menu labels and pairing steps may differ by source phone and ColorOS version. OPPO’s Clone Phone guide describes its process.
The Android setup QR code will not scan
This fallback applies to Google’s Android setup pairing, not necessarily to Clone Phone. On the old Android device, check for the setup notification and choose “Try another way” to pair with a code. If the notification is missing, Google advises skipping that pairing path and considering cloud-backup restoration instead. See Google’s troubleshooting steps.

What if Clone Phone will not install or update?
OPPO recommends checking the internet connection, restarting the phone, reviewing Play Store download preferences, and ensuring the Google Play Store and related services have network permission. Settings names vary by ColorOS version. If those checks do not resolve the issue, contact OPPO support using its Play Store installation and update guidance.
Can you transfer data after skipping setup?
Some Android devices offer “Finish setting up” in Settings or notifications after initial setup. Later copy options depend on the Android version and manufacturer. Check the OPPO before assuming a factory reset is necessary; the available option may be different on your model.

You can also restore a Google Account backup during initial setup or, on an already configured phone, when adding the account. What returns depends on what was backed up. Google says a full restore can take up to 24 hours, and a backup from a higher Android version cannot be restored to a lower-version phone; the result may be incomplete. A partial transfer does not automatically mean the copy failed. Google’s Android setup flow can transfer apps and certain app data, music, photos, videos, contacts stored on the phone or SIM, text messages, some settings, MMS media, wallpaper, and call history. Google lists these as items that do not copy in that flow:

- Downloads such as PDFs and media in hidden folders.
- Apps not installed from Google Play, and data from apps that do not use Android backup.
- Non-Google accounts and their data, plus some settings.
OPPO says Clone Phone cannot migrate hardware-linked transit or access cards, face and fingerprint data, lock-screen passwords, incompatible apps or their data, or system-clone data. See Google’s copy overview and OPPO’s Clone Phone limitations.
WhatsApp chats
Google says WhatsApp chats are restored from the cloud after you sign in and open WhatsApp, provided WhatsApp backup was enabled on the old phone. Ordinary device copying does not guarantee that every app’s private data will move. Check WhatsApp’s own backup status on the old phone and follow its restore prompt after setting up the app; Google describes the prerequisite in its Android transfer guidance.
