You can import passwords and passkeys directly from another password manager into Google Password Manager on Android. The documented route is Settings → Import passwords and passkeys; it does not require you to create or handle a CSV file. You will still authenticate and approve the handoff in the source manager.
Transfer passwords directly from another manager
Google’s current Android instructions describe an in-app import. The exact options and prompts during the handoff can depend on the source password manager.

- Open Google Password Manager on your Android device.
- Tap Settings → Import passwords and passkeys.
- Verify your identity with the device screen lock if prompted.
- Select the password manager you are importing from and sign in to it if asked.
- Approve the export in the source manager, then complete the import in Google Password Manager.
Google advises importing or exporting only with a third-party manager you trust. The direct route avoids you handling a downloaded CSV, but it still involves authentication and a transfer approved through the source manager. Google’s instructions for importing passwords and passkeys.

Check the import and deal with passkey prompts
After the transfer, check that important accounts appear in Google Password Manager. Google says entries that are already saved there are skipped rather than added again. If an entry seems missing, search by the app or website name: some imported names may be placed in an unexpected field. Google’s import guidance.

Screen-lock verification may be required for Android import and export. When importing passkeys to a new device, Google says you may also need the old device’s screen lock or your Google Password Manager PIN. The source manager may request a recovery key as part of its approval process. Google’s passkey and screen-lock guidance.
Use a CSV only if the direct route is unavailable
Google also documents exporting passwords to a CSV file and importing that file through Settings → Import passwords and passkeys. This is an alternate route, not a required step for direct manager-to-manager import.

url, username, andpassword. - In Google Password Manager, open Settings → Import passwords and passkeys, choose the CSV import option, and select the file.
- Delete the CSV after importing it.
Google’s support guidance says a CSV import can contain up to 3,000 passwords at a time, and up to 10,000 passwords can be stored in a Google Account. If your file exceeds the per-import limit, split it into separate files. These are Google’s documented limits, not independent test results. Google’s CSV import and export guidance.

A CSV export contains readable credentials. Google warns: “If you don’t delete your password file, anyone who uses the device can open the file and access your passwords.” If you use this fallback, keep the file protected while it exists and remove it once the import is complete. Where Google Password Manager keeps imported credentials
Google says passwords and passkeys can be saved in a Google Account or on the device. Credentials saved to the account can be used on other devices signed in to that account. Google also says Password Manager can flag compromised, weak, or reused passwords; its help page does not quantify how often those checks identify issues or how much risk they reduce.
