For a few nearby photos or documents, try Quick Share if both tablets meet Samsung’s compatibility requirements. For a large batch or an unreliable connection, use a compatible USB drive; files already in cloud storage can be opened from the same service on each device. Treat notes separately: export them to a portable format, and check whether the receiving app can preserve their structure before deleting the original.

Transfer a few files with Quick Share
Samsung documents Quick Share for sharing with supported Apple devices. Compatibility depends on the Galaxy’s Quick Share version and the iPad’s generation and software, so check Samsung’s Quick Share guidance for your devices before relying on it. Settings and labels can also vary by software version.

- On the Galaxy tablet, open Quick Share and turn on Share with Apple devices.
- On the iPad, go to Settings > General > AirDrop and set the iPad to be discoverable as Samsung instructs.
- Keep the tablets close together, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.
- On the Galaxy, select the files, choose the share option, and select the iPad when it appears. Accept the transfer on the iPad if prompted.
If the iPad does not appear, confirm discoverability, wireless settings, and compatibility. For a large transfer or unsupported devices, use a drive or cloud service instead.
Move a large batch with external storage
A USB flash drive or compatible external drive provides a practical bridge when you do not want to rely on a network. Samsung describes copying files to USB flash drives or SSDs, with an OTG adapter possibly needed; Apple says an adapter may be needed to connect external storage to an iPad. - Check the port on each tablet, the drive’s connector, and whether you need a USB-C or OTG adapter. Confirm that both devices support the drive’s format and that it has enough free space.
- Connect the drive to the Galaxy. Copy the selected files to it using the file-management app.
- Connect the drive to the iPad, using an adapter if necessary. Open Files or another supported app, locate the files, and copy them to the iPad’s storage or a destination folder.
- For a transfer in the other direction, copy files from the iPad to the drive, then connect it to the Galaxy and copy them over.
Do not disconnect the drive while files are being copied. If it does not appear, recheck the connection, adapter, format, and available power or storage.
Use cloud storage for files already online
If the files are already in a cross-platform cloud service, open that service on both tablets rather than making a separate device-to-device transfer. On iPad, Apple’s Files guide gives iCloud, Box, and Dropbox as examples of locations that can be used there. Service availability, account setup, supported file types, and any subscription fees depend on the provider.

Samsung notes that data synchronized with an external service is not transferred by Smart Switch; add the relevant account on the receiving device so the service can sync its data. This applies to account-synced content, not necessarily every file stored in a service.
Transfer notes without mistaking an export for an editable note
Notes are not always ordinary files: exporting one may preserve its appearance or text without preserving the app’s editable structure. Apple’s iPadOS 27 guide documents exporting an individual Apple Note as a PDF or Markdown file. A PDF is a readable snapshot; Markdown is a portable text format, but the receiving Samsung app must support the content and formatting you need. Export an Apple Note from iPad
- Open the note in Notes and use its share or export controls.
- Choose PDF for a fixed-layout copy or Markdown for text-based workflows, if the option is available in your version of iPadOS.
- Save or share the exported file, then move it to the Samsung tablet using Quick Share, external storage, or cloud storage.
- Open the file with an app on the Samsung tablet that supports the format. Verify the result before treating it as a complete, editable replacement.
Check attachments before archiving as PDF
Apple warns that when a note contains a multipage PDF or scanned document, the exported PDF includes only the first page of that embedded item. Exporting the note alone may therefore omit pages from an attachment. Save or transfer the original attachment separately and check it on the receiving tablet.
Moving Samsung Notes to Apple Notes
Samsung’s cited Smart Switch materials document Samsung Notes syncing through Samsung Cloud, but do not establish a direct conversion or import from Samsung Notes into Apple Notes. Check the export options in your specific Samsung Notes version. If it can export to a format the iPad can open, transfer that file and treat it as an archive unless you verify that Apple Notes can import it in the editable form you need.

Apple also documents sharing a file from Files into Notes and saving it as a new or existing note. That workflow does not guarantee that an exported Samsung Notes file will become an editable Apple Note.

What Smart Switch can—and cannot—do here
Smart Switch is useful for moving supported content into Galaxy devices, and Samsung’s tablet setup guide describes transfer routes including wireless, cable, iCloud, and external storage. Its documented list has limits. Samsung says: “Although Smart Switch allows you to transfer a wide variety of content, like contacts, call history, call logs, photos, videos, and documents, there are some things that cannot be transferred using the app.” See Samsung’s tablet setup and Smart Switch guide.

That guide is not evidence that Smart Switch transfers Samsung Notes directly into iPadOS. For data synced through a service such as Google or Office, Samsung says to add the account on the receiving device so it can sync; Smart Switch does not transfer that externally synced data.
