You can transfer an EPUB or PDF to a PocketBook by copying it over USB, or—if your model and account support it—uploading it through PocketBook Cloud or another network service. The file format and transfer route are separate from DRM: an authorized copy may still be required before a protected book will open.
Choose a transfer method
| Method | What you need | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| USB cable | A computer, a data-capable USB cable, and the book file | A direct copy to the reader |
| PocketBook Cloud | Wi-Fi, a PocketBook account, and Cloud availability on your reader or app | Uploading through the web or app and syncing to a reader signed into the same account |
| Send-to-PocketBook or Dropbox | A compatible device with the service available and configured | Network transfer when supported by the specific model and software |
PocketBook lists EPUB and PDF among its supported ebook formats, including some DRM variants. Which connection services and menu labels are available depends on the reader model and software.

Transfer a book from a computer with USB
- Download or locate the EPUB or PDF on your computer. If the book is protected, check the DRM requirements before copying it.
- Connect the PocketBook to the computer with a data-capable USB cable.
- If the reader asks how to connect, select the file-transfer or computer connection option shown on the device. Names and menu paths vary by model, language, and firmware.
- Open the PocketBook storage on the computer and copy the book file to it. You can use a folder on the device that is convenient for your library.
- Eject the reader safely from the computer, then disconnect the cable.
PocketBook describes USB copying as a standard transfer route; its USB instructions illustrate device-specific connection menus. Follow the prompt on your own reader rather than assuming another model has identical labels. Cable connectors also vary: check your model’s port and use a cable that supports data, not charging alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTransfer through PocketBook Cloud
- Upload the EPUB or PDF using the PocketBook Cloud website, a supported PocketBook e-reader, or the PocketBook Reader mobile app.
- Connect the reader to Wi-Fi and sign in to the same PocketBook account used for the upload.
- Synchronize the reader, then download the uploaded book to it if needed.
PocketBook’s Cloud FAQ lists EPUB and PDF, including Adobe DRM variants, among supported types. Cloud synchronization features can differ by software: the Aqua 2 manual documents reading-position synchronization for EPUB and PDF, not every possible format or PocketBook model.

Use Send-to-PocketBook or Dropbox if your device supports it
Some readers offer additional network-service routes. The PocketBook Era manual documents Send-to-PocketBook, PocketBook Cloud, and Dropbox. These are not guaranteed to appear or work the same way on every PocketBook. Check your device’s settings or manual, and configure the service before relying on it.
Handle Adobe DRM separately from transferring
If a bookstore or library supplied an Adobe DRM-protected EPUB or PDF, copying the file does not authorize it. PocketBook’s FAQ says Adobe Digital Editions is required to download protected books to a PC and that an Adobe ID is required to read them. Its described purchase flow also requires the Adobe ID email to match the email on the PocketBook customer account. Follow the instructions from the bookstore or library that supplied your book; do not assume the file is DRM-free just because its name ends in .epub or .pdf.
