You can move data to a Redmi 17C 5G with Xiaomi’s Mi Mover, or copy apps and data during the Android setup wizard. Mi Mover is the practical wireless option; setup may offer a cable transfer or a cable-free restore. If anything is missing, sync the relevant account or copy files manually. The available data and steps depend on the old phone, its Android version, and the Redmi’s on-screen options.

Transfer wirelessly with Mi Mover
Xiaomi’s global support article says Mi Mover supports transfers from other Android devices, including phones from other manufacturers. It lists contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps, and other personal data as possible transfer categories, but warns that compatibility depends in part on the old phone model and operating system. Do not assume every app, sign-in, or private app datum will be copied.

Before you start
- Charge both phones to at least 30%, as Xiaomi recommends.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both phones, and install the latest Mi Mover version on each.
- Keep the phones close together, leave their screens on, and avoid switching apps while the transfer is running.
Run the transfer
- Open Mi Mover on both phones. If you cannot find it on a Xiaomi phone, Xiaomi lists Settings > About phone > Mi Mover as a route; placement may differ by software version. Xiaomi instructions for locating Mi Mover
- On the old Android phone, choose Old. On the Redmi 17C 5G, choose New.
- Let the Redmi detect the old phone, then connect the devices as prompted.
- Select the data types you want to move, review and confirm the reminders shown, and start the transfer.
- Wait until Mi Mover reports completion before using either phone for other tasks.
Xiaomi says Mi Mover uses Wi-Fi Direct and does not consume mobile data. Xiaomi also describes the process as local and peer-to-peer, with data not uploaded to a server; that is Xiaomi’s description, not an independent security audit. Xiaomi Mi Mover support

If the Redmi has not completed its first-time setup, look for the Android setup option to copy apps and data from an old phone. A Xiaomi guide for the POCO C40 documents both a wired route and a cable-free route. Its sample wireless labels are No cable? > Ok, followed by A backup from an Android phone. If the setup wizard offers a wired transfer, connect the phones only if you have a cable that fits both ports and supports the needed connection, then follow the screen instructions. Xiaomi’s Spain specification page lists USB Type-C and a USB Type-C cable in the Redmi 17C 5G package contents, while warning that package contents can vary by region. Recover items that did not transfer
If you have already finished setup, do not assume that the initial copy screen can be reopened. Use Mi Mover, account sync, or a manual copy for the missing categories instead. Xiaomi’s guide for another handset recommends signing in to the relevant Google or Mi account, importing SIM-stored contacts where needed, and using cloud storage or a computer for photos, videos, music, files, and folders. - Contacts: Sign in to the account that holds them. If they are stored on the SIM, use the phone’s contacts import option.
- Calendar: Check that the relevant calendar account is signed in and syncing.
- Photos, videos, music, and folders: Copy them through cloud storage or a computer if they are absent from the Redmi.
- Apps or messages: Check what Mi Mover or setup actually transferred. App availability, logins, and private data may depend on the source phone and app; the cited instructions do not establish that every app’s contents can be recovered.
