For a sale or gift, do not rely on Wyze sharing. Save any recordings, remove the camera and shared users from the old account, handle the microSD card and subscription separately, factory-reset the exact camera model, and have the recipient add it to a different Wyze account. Wyze’s current support pages describe these separate steps rather than one universal ownership-transfer button.
Choose sharing or a real handoff

| Temporary guest access | Share it, then revoke access when finished. |
| Permanent sale or gift | Remove the device, factory-reset it, and set it up under the recipient’s account. |
| You are abandoning the entire Wyze account | Consider account deletion only after backups and subscription cancellation. |
To share, open Account > Sharing (or a camera’s Settings > Sharing), tap Share With New User, enter the recipient’s Wyze-account email, select the camera, and tap Share. The recipient accepts in the Wyze app. To revoke access, return to Account > Sharing, select the person, tap the pencil icon, uncheck the camera, and tap Update. Menu names can vary by app version.

Sharing is unsuitable for a sale: the original account remains primary, subscription control stays with that owner, sharing is per device, and shared users have restrictions. Wyze says shared users cannot share the device onward, rename it, change some detection or alarm settings, or view microSD footage. See Wyze’s sharing instructions and shared-user limits.

Seller checklist before handover
- Download or otherwise preserve cloud recordings you want to keep.
- Remove the microSD card before resetting. Keep it, securely erase it, or transfer it only after considering any private footage.
- Remove the camera from the Wyze app/account if that option is available, and remove every shared user.
- Remove the camera from groups, shortcuts, schedules, and automations where appropriate.
- Review Cam Plus, Cam Protect, or other Wyze Services separately.
- Confirm the exact model (for example, Cam v3, Cam v4, Pan v3, or Pan v4).
- Never give the recipient your Wyze password or leave the camera connected to your Wi-Fi.
Wyze’s account-deletion guidance tells users to delete devices in the app and factory-reset hardware first, but deleting your whole account is excessive for one camera and can erase unrelated data and terminate all plans. See Wyze’s account-deletion instructions.

Remove the old account and reset the hardware
- In the old Wyze app, remove the camera if the current device controls provide that option.
- Remove all sharing permissions for that camera.
- Power the camera and follow the model-specific reset procedure below.
- Wait for the documented ready-to-connect status. Do not hand over a camera that still has the old Wi-Fi credentials or account access.
If the camera is offline or the removal control is unavailable, perform the exact hardware reset and let the recipient try setup. If Wyze reports that the device is still associated with another account, contact Wyze Support; the public instructions do not establish a universal server-side unbinding result for every model and account state.
Wyze Cam v4
- Remove the microSD card and power on the camera.
- Pull the base away from the bottom.
- Hold SETUP for 10 seconds, until the status light turns red and begins flashing red.
A single press starts setup; it is not a factory reset. The reset clears settings and previous Wi-Fi/setup information but keeps the installed firmware. Cam v4 reset instructions

Wyze Cam Pan v3
- Remove the microSD card and power on the camera.
- Hold the underside SETUP button for 10 seconds.
- Wait at least 30 seconds for initialization; Wyze says it can rarely take up to five minutes, then wait for flashing red.
Wyze Cam Pan v4
- Remove the microSD card and ensure the camera is powered.
- Hold the underside SETUP button for 10–20 seconds.
- Wait at least 30 seconds (occasionally up to five minutes) for flashing red.
Pan v4 reset instructions. Pan v2 uses a different documented procedure; check Wyze’s Pan v2 guide. Do not assume button location or timing is identical on another model.

What the new owner does
- Install or update the Wyze app and create a new account, or sign in to an existing one.
- Connect the phone to the recipient’s Wi-Fi, then tap Home > + > Device.
- Choose the camera category and exact model, press SETUP when prompted, and follow the voice and status-light instructions.
- Select the new Wi-Fi network and enter its password. Scan the setup QR code if prompted.
- Name the camera and choose Basic service or an available Cam Plus option.
- Recreate detection settings, schedules, automations, and sharing permissions.
For Cam v4, the documented path is Home > + > Device > Cameras > Wired Camera > Wyze Cam v4; see the Cam v4 setup guide. Pan v4 uses Home > + > Device > Cameras > Pan and Tilt Camera > Wyze Cam Pan v4, with Bluetooth permission where required; see the Pan v4 setup guide. These current guides specify 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; verify the requirement for other models.

Recordings, subscriptions, and settings: what does not transfer
- Cloud recordings: belong to the old account and are not automatically transferred by a reset. Preserve or delete them separately.
- microSD recordings: remain on the physical card until it is removed, erased, or given away.
- Phone downloads: remain in the seller’s phone storage.
- Subscriptions: remain with the old account unless canceled or changed. A shared user cannot manage the owner’s Wyze Services subscription.
- Cam Plus licenses: Wyze documents reassignment between compatible cameras within one account, not transfer of a subscription to another person. See the license-transfer guide.
- Automations and sharing: must be removed by the seller and recreated by the buyer.
- Firmware: remains installed through a factory reset.
If canceling a plan, use the billing channel that was used to buy it; Apple App Store or Google Play subscriptions may require cancellation there. Deleting an account is irreversible, erases cloud data, and terminates service plans; Wyze says account-deletion refunds are not issued. See what happens after account deletion.

Troubleshoot a failed handoff
- Still visible in the seller’s app: remove the device and revoke sharing; changing its name or Wi-Fi is not enough.
- “Already registered” or account-association error: repeat the model-specific reset, then contact Wyze Support rather than sharing the old password. Keep proof of purchase or sale available.
- No flashing-red light or ready prompt: confirm power, remove the microSD card, power-cycle, and reset again for the specified duration.
- Setup fails: update the app, verify the required Wi-Fi band and password, move phone and camera near the router, reboot the router, power-cycle the camera, and retry as a new device. Wyze’s Pan v4 troubleshooting guide documents this sequence.
- QR code will not scan: raise phone brightness, hold the screen at the prompted distance, and retry after confirming the camera is in setup mode.
Final privacy check
- The camera is absent from the old account and all old sharing entries.
- The microSD card is removed or intentionally wiped.
- Wanted cloud recordings are backed up; unwanted data is intentionally deleted.
- Subscriptions are canceled, retained, or reassigned within the seller’s account as intended.
- The camera has completed its model-specific factory reset.
- The buyer has tested live view with new Wi-Fi credentials and configured notifications, detection, storage, and sharing under the new account.
