Then follow the steps for the status shown: a late package, a delivered scan with no package, a missing item, and an undeliverable shipment each need a different response.
These directions reflect Amazon’s help pages accessed October 9, 2026. What appears can vary by marketplace, shipping method, and order; some shipments do not have tracking.

How to track an Amazon order
- Go to Your Orders and find the order.
- Select Track package.
- Select All updates to view delivery updates and any available tracking number.
- If the order has multiple products, check each shipment separately. Items may have different delivery dates and tracking details.
Amazon’s tracking guidance says some packages, including some standard international deliveries, may not be trackable. For an order from a third-party seller, tracking is available only if the seller provides the information and the selected shipping option supports tracking.

What the tracking statuses mean
- Arriving: The package is on its way.
- Out for delivery: It is due that day.
- Delivered: It has been recorded as delivered and may have been left in a safe place.
- Undeliverable: The package could not be delivered and is being returned to Amazon.
A status is a useful starting point, not a precise location guarantee. For a missing package, follow the instructions for that status rather than assuming the scan proves what happened.

If your Amazon order is late
- In Your Orders, check the estimated delivery date and the latest status.
- If the package has shipped, Amazon says it cannot be cancelled.
- If the estimated date has passed, keep checking the tracking updates. Amazon says most late parcels arrive within 48 hours of the estimated delivery date; this is general guidance, not a guarantee for an individual shipment.
If the status changes to Delivered but you still cannot find the package, use the delivered-but-missing steps below instead.
If tracking says delivered but the package is missing
Amazon’s missing-package guidance says, “Packages may be scanned as delivered before arrival.” Work through these checks before escalating:

- Verify the address. Open the order and confirm the shipping address.
- Check delivery evidence. Review the Message Center, delivery confirmation, mailbox, and any delivery photo.
- Look at the instructed delivery location. Check the location and delivery instructions in Your Addresses; the carrier may have left the package where requested.
- Ask people nearby. Check with household members and neighbors who may have accepted it.
- Wait 48 hours. Amazon advises waiting because a delivery scan can precede the package’s arrival.
- Check with the carrier. It may have additional information about the package’s location.
- Contact the right party if it remains missing. For an order shipped and sold by a third-party seller, contact that seller. For an Amazon-shipped order, contact Customer Service within 30 days of the expected delivery date.
Use the order’s shipment details to determine who shipped it; the contact route depends on the fulfillment arrangement.
If an item is missing from a delivered package
- Check Your Orders to see whether the item is in another shipment, then review that shipment’s tracking.
- If the item was shipped by Amazon and has no tracking information, contact Customer Service for help.
- If it was shipped and sold by a third-party seller, contact the seller through the order.
- If only part of a product is missing, inspect the product packaging. Then contact the manufacturer or use the available return or replacement option, as appropriate.
If Amazon says the package is undeliverable
Amazon says an undeliverable package is returned and refunded; it cannot be reshipped, so you may need to place a new order. Its undeliverable-package guidance gives a refund expectation of within seven business days after Amazon receives the return. Some banks may need another three to five business days to process the refund.

Examples of reasons Amazon lists include package damage, an unreadable shipping label, an inaccessible address or missing access information, delivery restrictions, and unsuccessful access attempts. These are possible causes, not a diagnosis of a particular shipment.
If the order was shipped and sold by a third-party seller, contact the seller. Amazon says you may be eligible for an A-to-z Guarantee if you are dissatisfied with the seller’s solution or the seller does not respond within two business days.

How to contact Amazon or a third-party seller
Use Your Orders to track the package and manage most order issues. For Amazon-shipped orders, Amazon’s Customer Service page directs customers to its support options, including self-service and available contact methods. For an order shipped and sold by a third-party seller, use the seller-contact option associated with the order.
Before contacting support, have the order open and be ready to describe the exact tracking status, expected delivery date, and checks you have already completed. This helps you explain the issue clearly; Amazon does not specify a required script or document.

Preventing repeat doorstep delivery problems
If packages are repeatedly left in an exposed spot, review the delivery instructions in Your Addresses and choose a safer permitted location if available. A lockable parcel box may help with future doorstep deliveries, but it will not locate or recover a package that is already missing.
