To track an Amazon item, open its product page and select Price history beside the price, or ask Alexa for Shopping to show its past prices. To get notified when it reaches a price you choose, ask Alexa for Shopping to set a target-price alert. Keepa and CamelCamelCamel are alternatives if you want third-party tracking.
How do I check an Amazon item’s price history?
- Open the product detail page for the item you want to track.
- Select Price history beside the product’s price to view the available chart. You can also ask Alexa for Shopping about the item; Amazon’s example question is, “Has this item been on sale in the past 30 days?”
- Choose a time range if the available view offers one. Amazon describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day history views. It says price history is available to customers in the U.S., UK, Canada, and India; 365-day insights are rolling out in the U.S., UK, and India, so the longest view may not yet appear for every shopper in those markets. Amazon’s price-history guide has the current feature details.
Amazon reported in 2026 that more than 50 million customers checked price history, averaging three checks per month. Those are Amazon usage figures, not independent evidence that tracking saves money or identifies a good deal.

Is this Amazon deal actually a good price?
Use the chart to compare the displayed price with the item’s earlier prices over the available period. If it is near a recent low, that gives useful context; if it is substantially higher than its prior prices, you may decide to wait or set an alert. A historical chart cannot predict or guarantee a future drop, and a low price in the selected period does not prove that it is the lowest price the item has ever had.

Can Amazon alert me when a price drops?
Set a target-price notification
- Open the product’s detail page and ask Alexa for Shopping to create a price alert.
- State the price you are willing to pay. Amazon’s example prompt is, “Alert me when this drops to $50.” Adjust the target and currency to suit the item and your market.
- Amazon says it will notify you when the price reaches your target. See Amazon’s instructions for Alexa price alerts.
Know the difference between an alert and Auto-Buy
Amazon also describes an optional Auto-Buy feature: Alexa for Shopping can automatically purchase an item when it reaches a selected target price, using your default payment method. This is different from a notification-only alert because it can complete a purchase. Choose it only if you intend to authorize an automatic order. Amazon’s Auto-Buy information describes the option.
