Jio markets its set-top box as 4K, but that label alone does not confirm that every YouTube Live stream, box software version, TV, and network combination will play at 2160p60.
What a valid 4K60 test needs to establish
YouTube calls 3840 × 2160 pixels “2160p (4K).” The label describes resolution; 60fps describes the stream’s frame rate. Check the quality offered by the actual stream and the quality selected in the playback session, rather than relying on the set-top box’s marketing description. YouTube’s resolution guidance defines 2160p as 4K.

The test stream must offer 2160p60. A stream capped at 1080p, or at 30fps, cannot show whether the Jio box can play a 4K60 stream. YouTube’s live encoder settings include 4K/2160p at 60fps as a broadcast format, but that does not mean every live broadcast offers it to viewers.

How to check 2160p60 on your Jio box
- Update and check the setup. Install available updates for the set-top box and YouTube app. Confirm the TV is on the HDMI input connected to the Jio box. Jio advises using the latest device software and a stable internet connection for best performance in its JioTV+ FAQ.
- Choose a suitable live stream. Open YouTube on the Jio box and find a live broadcast whose quality menu offers 2160p60. If the highest option shown is lower, that stream is not a valid 4K60 test.
- Select 2160p60 manually. Open the YouTube player’s settings or quality menu and choose 2160p60 if it appears. If it is missing, note the highest resolution and frame rate the menu offers; do not treat a lower quality option as a failed 4K60 playback test.
- Watch for stability. Let the live video play long enough to notice buffering, pauses, judder, image breakup, or a quality drop. Record whether the selected quality stays in use and whether motion looks consistent.
- Repeat under simpler network conditions if playback falters. Pause other household downloads and, if practical, connect the box by Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. YouTube recommends 20 Mbps sustained speed for 4K UHD playback. This is general viewer guidance, not a guarantee that any particular connection will deliver 4K60 in all conditions. Record the result so it is useful
Keep the stream’s limit separate from the box-and-network result. Note the highest quality the stream offers, the option you selected, and whether playback held steady. If available in the app, playback statistics may show delivered or optimal resolution and dropped frames. Do not assume every Jio box’s standard YouTube app provides a Stats for Nerds overlay: the detailed official explanation available is for YouTube TV, a different service. For a reproducible report, write down:
- Jio set-top box model, if known, and its software version.
- YouTube app version, if shown, and the TV model or its supported resolution.
- The live stream link and the highest quality shown in its menu.
- The quality selected, whether it remained stable, and any buffering, judder, or image breakup.
- Any playback statistics the app exposes, plus whether the box was on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
If 2160p60 never appears for a stream known to offer it, report these details to Jio or YouTube support. The missing option alone does not identify whether the limit is the stream, app, device, display path, or network.

Why 4K or 60fps may be missing
- The broadcast does not offer 2160p60. Its quality menu may top out at a lower resolution or frame rate; use a different stream before judging the box.
- The playback session is not delivering the selected quality reliably. Network conditions can affect playback; repeat with other downloads paused and, if possible, a wired connection.
- The TV or connection path may be a factor. Confirm the TV supports the intended resolution and that the box is connected to the correct input. A suitable 4K-capable HDMI cable may be relevant if the display connection is limiting output, but a new cable is not established as a universal fix.
- The app or device software may need attention. Check for available updates before repeating the test.
Do not buy a replacement set-top box solely because one stream lacks a 2160p60 option. First confirm that the stream itself offers 2160p60, then test the playback session and record the setup.

Keep this test separate from YouTube TV and JioTV+
This procedure is for a YouTube Live broadcast in the YouTube app. JioTV+ is Jio’s separate content-aggregator app, not the YouTube Live player, as Jio explains in its FAQ.
