Confirm that the camera opening, buttons, charging port, speakers and microphones line up. Similar screen size or exterior dimensions alone do not prove a case will fit; if the exact model is not listed, treat compatibility as unconfirmed.
Find your phone’s exact model name
Use the model name shown by the phone or its manufacturer, including the generation and any variant such as Plus, Pro, Ultra, Fold or Flip. A family name by itself may not distinguish devices that need different cases.

- iPhone: Open Settings > General > About and read Model Name. Apple says Model Number initially displays a part number; tap it to show the model number. See Apple’s iPhone information guide.
- Samsung Galaxy: Open Settings > About phone and read the model number. Samsung notes that screens can vary by wireless provider and software version. See Samsung’s model-number instructions.
- Google Pixel: Check the About phone information, then match the exact product name to the case listing. Google directs Made For Google accessory questions to the accessory maker rather than offering a general case-fit guarantee. See Google Pixel Help.
- Other phones: Look under Settings for About phone or the equivalent device-information screen, then verify the model name with the phone maker. Menu wording can vary by brand, software version and region.
Do not mistake the operating-system version, storage size, carrier, IMEI or serial number for the phone’s model name. If the name is unclear, consult the manufacturer’s official identification information or support channel.

Match the case listing to the phone
- Copy the full model name from Settings or About phone.
- Read the case’s compatibility list and confirm the generation and variant. A title that only says “for 6.1-inch phones” is not enough to establish fit.
- Compare the camera opening with the phone’s camera island and flash arrangement.
- Check that button covers or openings align and leave the controls usable.
- Check the charging-port, speaker and microphone openings. For a foldable or stylus-equipped phone, confirm that the design also accommodates the hinge or stylus access where needed.
- If compatibility is still unclear, check the seller’s fit and return details or ask the maker before relying on the case for protection.
Dimensions can help rule out an obviously different model, but they cannot confirm alignment of the camera, controls or openings. The Device Fit Check guide recommends checking model, dimensions and opening alignment together; Belkin’s device selector likewise describes cases as designed around a particular model’s dimensions, camera layout and button positions. This is general guidance, not a claim that every maker uses identical tolerances.

What a detailed compatibility listing looks like
A Samsung UK Business listing for the Galaxy A51 5G A Cover names “Galaxy A51 5g” as a compatible model, describes tailored notches and cut-outs, and gives dimensions of 78.7 × 163.9 × 11 mm. That is an example of useful listing detail—not evidence that the case fits another phone or a current recommendation. See the Samsung UK Business product listing.
If you already have the case
Look for compatible model names on the packaging, original product listing or case-maker documentation. Compare the case with the phone without forcing it. Check that it sits evenly at the corners, does not lift or pinch, leaves every lens unobstructed, and allows normal use of buttons and ports. A case that appears to snap on is not proof that it fits safely or protects as intended. Remove it if it feels tight or loose, is warped, or blocks a camera, control or opening; confirm compatibility with the maker.

- Fit evidence: Does the listing name the full phone model and generation?
- Cutouts and special features: Are the camera, buttons, charging port, speakers, microphones, hinge or stylus access accommodated?
- Construction: Compare slim, folio, rugged or other styles and the maker’s stated protection features. Do not assume an unverified drop rating.
- Practical constraints: Check grip, thickness, material, wireless charging or magnetic-accessory compatibility, price and returns on the individual listing. Model fit alone does not establish these features.
