Choose a no-code workflow or a custom build
A no-code workflow is the quickest route if its available trigger, screenshot action, and Drive connection fit your needs. A published viaSocket template illustrates a Monday 8 a.m. trigger, a full-page ScreenshotOne capture, and an upload to a chosen Google Drive folder; the template page says the folder and filename pattern can be selected. For a custom setup, Google Cloud Scheduler can trigger a Google Cloud Workflow on a recurring schedule. You configure the recurrence, time zone, and service-account authentication; the workflow must still perform the screenshot and Drive-delivery steps. Decide what the weekly image should show
- Viewport: Captures the visible browser area. Choose this when the top-of-page layout or visible fold is what you want to compare week to week.
- One element: Captures a selected page element, such as a pricing panel or banner. This requires a capture tool that supports targeting an element.
- Full page: Captures the scrollable page. Long pages produce tall images, which can be harder to inspect or compare.

Set the schedule, time zone, folder, and filename
- Choose the URL and capture scope. Decide whether each run should save the viewport, a particular element, or the full page.
- Choose a weekday and time. Specify the time zone explicitly so the run happens at the intended local time, including when daylight-saving rules affect that location.
- Configure the recurring trigger. Cloud Scheduler uses a five-field cron expression and supports recurring schedules and time-zone configuration. For example,
0 8 * * 1represents 8:00 on Mondays in the schedule’s configured time zone. Confirm the expression and time zone in the Cloud Scheduler configuration before deploying. - Connect capture output to Drive. Select the destination folder and ensure the workflow or connected integration has permission to place files there.
- Use a distinct dated filename. For example,
example-site-YYYY-MM-DD.png. A date in the name makes separate weekly captures easier to sort; the precise pattern is your choice. - Run a manual test. Check the captured content, image format, filename, and destination folder before enabling or depending on the recurring run.
Google’s documentation explains the scheduling and authentication configuration; it does not make a screenshot or Drive upload happen automatically. Those actions must be implemented in the workflow or supplied by the no-code integration you choose.
Use Playwright for a customizable capture step
If you already have a browser-automation environment, Playwright can save an image to a filename you specify. This minimal Node.js example captures a full page as PNG:

Test and troubleshoot the archive
- No file appears in Drive: Check whether the run reached the upload step and whether the connected account or service account can write to the selected folder.
- The schedule runs at the wrong local time: Verify the configured time zone as well as the schedule expression; a recurrence without the intended zone can run at an unexpected hour.
- The capture is incomplete: Confirm whether you selected viewport, element, or full-page capture. Dynamic content, lazy-loaded images, login requirements, or bot restrictions can affect unattended captures; test the actual page and access conditions rather than assuming universal compatibility.
- New runs overwrite an older image: Check the filename pattern and include the run date so each weekly file has a distinct name.
- The no-code template is unavailable or behaves differently: Templates and integrations may change. Verify the current trigger, capture action, connected accounts, and Drive permissions in the service you use.

Does Cloud Scheduler take the screenshot and save it to Drive?
No. It triggers a workflow on a schedule; the workflow still needs separate screenshot-capture and Drive-upload actions.
Can I archive only part of a web page?

Will a scheduled screenshot work for a page behind a login?
That depends on the selected service and how it handles authentication. The documented examples do not establish a universal private-page setup, so test access and capture behavior before relying on an unattended run.
