If your A54 has the option, enable Palm swipe to capture at Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures → Palm swipe to capture. Then swipe the edge of your hand across the screen. The setting may not appear on every software version or regional variant, so check your phone before relying on the gesture. Samsung’s setup instructions and UK guidance describe the option.
How do I take a scrolling screenshot?
- Take a normal screenshot while viewing scrollable content, such as a webpage.
- When the screenshot controls appear, tap Scroll capture, shown as a downward-arrows icon, to extend the image farther down the page.
Scroll capture is intended for content that can be scrolled; it may not be available for every app or screen. Samsung documents the feature as part of its Galaxy screenshot controls.

Where are screenshots saved, and how do I share them?
Open Gallery → Albums → Screenshots to find captured images. Samsung also documents My Files → Images as a way to locate them. From Gallery or My Files, open the image to share it. The controls shown just after capture may also offer editing options such as drawing or cropping. See Samsung’s instructions for managing screenshots.
Why can’t I screenshot a particular app?
Some apps and screens block screenshots for privacy or security reasons. If your phone displays a security restriction warning, the app or screen may be preventing capture; that does not necessarily mean the buttons are faulty. Respect the restriction rather than trying to bypass it. Samsung notes that these limits can apply to particular apps or screens in its support guidance.

What if screenshots still do not work?
- Power menu opens: Retry with a brief, simultaneous press of Side and Volume Down.
- No capture flash: Make sure both buttons are pressed together, then release; check whether the screen displays a restriction notice.
- Palm swipe fails: Confirm Palm swipe to capture is enabled in Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures, if that option is present.
- A menu label differs: Search Settings for the feature name or check the labels on your phone. The Galaxy A54 has manuals listed for multiple Android versions, and Samsung cautions that feature availability varies by model and software. Samsung’s A54 support page lists manuals across Android 13, 14, 15, and 16; it does not indicate which version is installed on an individual phone.
Are there other screenshot shortcuts?
Samsung also describes voice commands through Bixby or Google Assistant and a Tasks Edge panel shortcut as Galaxy options. They depend on assistant availability or setup and may vary by A54 software build, so the Side-and-Volume-Down combination is the most direct method documented for general Galaxy use. Samsung’s overview of screenshot methods also mentions S Pen capture for compatible devices; that feature should not be assumed to apply to the A54.
