Send one authenticated POST request to Browserless’s /screenshot REST endpoint for each URL, then run those independent requests concurrently and save each image to its own file. Keep concurrency within the limit for your Browserless plan. Each REST call opens an independent browser session.
Capture multiple URLs with Browserless REST requests
The REST API is the simplest fit when you need a screenshot of each page without browser interaction. The following example uses a full-page PNG for every URL. Replace the token and URLs with your own.

curl -X POST 'https://production-sfo.browserless.io/screenshot?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN_HERE'
-H 'Content-Type: application/json'
-d '{"url":"https://example.com/","options":{"fullPage":true,"type":"png"}}'
--output screenshot-1.png
Repeat the request once per URL, changing both the JSON url and output filename. Check the HTTP status before treating a response as an image; an error response should not be saved as though it were a valid screenshot.
Run requests concurrently
Independent calls can run in parallel, which can reduce batch wall time when your account’s concurrency allowance permits it. The following Python example uses a thread pool, checks each response, and writes successful responses to distinct files:

import concurrent.futures
import requests
TOKEN = "YOUR_API_TOKEN_HERE"
ENDPOINT = "https://production-sfo.browserless.io/screenshot"
URLS = [
"https://example.com/",
"https://example.org/",
"https://example.net/",
]
def capture(item):
index, url = item
response = requests.post(
ENDPOINT,
params={"token": TOKEN},
json={"url": url, "options": {"fullPage": True, "type": "png"}},
timeout=90,
)
response.raise_for_status()
filename = f"screenshot-{index}.png"
with open(filename, "wb") as image_file:
image_file.write(response.content)
return filename
# Set this to a value your Browserless plan supports.
max_workers = 3
with concurrent.futures.ThreadPoolExecutor(max_workers=max_workers) as pool:
for filename in pool.map(capture, enumerate(URLS, start=1)):
print(f"Saved {filename}")
Use a worker count that is within both your Browserless plan’s concurrent-session limit and the capacity of your own job runner. Browserless documents no universal concurrency maximum, so confirm your plan’s allowance before launching a large batch. If a request fails, handle that URL as a failed job and retry deliberately rather than accepting its response body as an image.
JavaScript with Promise.all
Browserless’s concurrent-session guide demonstrates parallel calls with Promise.all. This Node.js example checks HTTP responses and saves each image under a unique filename:
import { writeFile } from "node:fs/promises";
const token = "YOUR_API_TOKEN_HERE";
const urls = [
"https://example.com/",
"https://example.org/",
"https://example.net/",
];
const results = await Promise.all(urls.map(async (url, index) => {
const response = await fetch(
`https://production-sfo.browserless.io/screenshot?token=${encodeURIComponent(token)}`,
{
method: "POST",
headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json" },
body: JSON.stringify({
url,
options: { fullPage: true, type: "png" },
}),
},
);
if (!response.ok) {
throw new Error(`Screenshot failed for ${url}: HTTP ${response.status}`);
}
const filename = `screenshot-${index + 1}.png`;
await writeFile(filename, Buffer.from(await response.arrayBuffer()));
return filename;
}));
console.log("Saved:", results.join(", "));
Promise.all rejects if any request fails. For production batch jobs that should keep processing after an individual error, catch failures per URL and record success or failure for each item. Do not increase parallelism beyond the plan’s supported concurrency.

Choose the screenshot settings for each page
Put the target page in url and capture settings in the request’s options object. The documented Screenshot API supports common Puppeteer-style settings, including:
- Full page: set
fullPagetotrueto capture beyond the visible viewport. For pages with lazy-loaded content, Browserless’s FAQ says you may needscrollPage: truebefore full-page capture. - Format and quality: choose an image type and, where appropriate, quality settings.
- Viewport and device scale: configure viewport dimensions and device scale factor when the target output needs a particular screen size or pixel density.
- Clip or selector: capture a defined region or a selected page element instead of the entire page.
For example, the basic full-page PNG configuration is {"url":"https://example.com/","options":{"fullPage":true,"type":"png"}}. Use a viewport capture when only the initially visible screen is needed; use full-page capture when the output should include the document below the fold.
When a browser connection is a better fit
Use the REST endpoint for a direct URL-to-image job. If a site requires interaction, or you need more explicit control over navigation and waiting, connect to a browser with Puppeteer, Playwright, or BAP, navigate to the page, and call the browser’s screenshot method. Browserless’s example covers these browser-connection approaches.

- Clear visuals. Fluid motion: A 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT deliver smooth, tear‑free motion across work, gaming, and streaming for clearer, more fluid viewing.

- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
Browser launch configuration also applies to REST API calls. Browserless documents passing launch settings as query parameters or as a URL-encoded JSON launch payload. Use that mechanism when the browser needs launch configuration; use a browser connection when the task requires page-level interaction or explicit navigation behavior.

Concurrency, failures, and batch reliability
- Set a bounded worker count: the account plan determines supported concurrency. A large local worker pool does not raise the plan limit.
- Keep each output separate: derive filenames from a stable index or URL identifier so concurrent responses cannot overwrite one another.
- Check status before writing: call
raise_for_status()in Python or checkresponse.okin JavaScript. Record the URL and error for failed jobs. - Retry selectively: retry failed requests according to your job’s policy rather than blindly repeating every successful capture. The documentation does not establish a universal retry schedule.
- Allow for per-page variance: no published benchmark in the cited documentation establishes a fixed batch duration or speedup. Parallel requests may shorten elapsed time when concurrency permits, but actual completion time depends on the individual pages and available sessions.
Troubleshooting common problems
The saved file is not a valid image
The response may contain an HTTP error rather than screenshot bytes. Check the status before writing it and log the URL and status code. Do not assume every response body is a PNG merely because the output filename ends in .png.
Some pages fail when the batch is large
Your worker count may exceed the concurrency supported by your Browserless plan. Lower parallelism and confirm the plan’s session allowance. The guide does not provide one maximum that applies to every account.

- MORE GAMING POWER: Gain the edge with optimizable game settings; Color and image contrast can be adjusted to see scenes more vividly and spot enemies hiding in the dark; Game Mode adjusts any game to fill the screen so you can view every detail²
- KEEP IT EASY ON THE EYES: Care for your eyes and stay comfortable, even during long sessions; Advanced eye comfort technology certified by TÜV reduces eye strain by minimizing blue light and reducing irritating screen flicker²
- INCREASED VERSATILITY: Connect to more; Plug devices straight into your monitor for increased flexibility, making your computing environment even more convenient
The lower portion of a full-page capture is missing lazy-loaded content
Try the documented scrollPage: true option with full-page capture. Lazy-loaded elements may not be present until the page has been scrolled.
A page needs a click or a specific wait before capture
A direct screenshot request may not express the interaction sequence the page requires. Connect through Puppeteer, Playwright, or BAP, navigate and perform the needed page actions, then take the screenshot.

Browser launch settings are not taking effect
For REST requests, pass launch configuration using query parameters or a URL-encoded JSON launch payload, as Browserless documents. Verify that the launch settings are encoded as query data rather than inserted into the screenshot JSON body.

What does Browserless use to authenticate a REST screenshot request?
The documented endpoint uses your API token in the token query parameter.
Does Browserless document a universal maximum for simultaneous screenshot requests?
No. Concurrency depends on the account plan, so check the limit for your plan before setting batch parallelism.
