Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo capture the same website at several responsive widths, set the page viewport, navigate to the URL, and save a screenshot for each width. Set the viewport before navigation when possible; Puppeteer’s documentation notes that some sites do not expect phone-sized dimensions to change after loading.
Capture the page at a repeatable set of widths
This Node.js example uses three sample widths. Replace them with the widths that match your site’s breakpoints or the device classes your team supports. The script keeps height and device scale factor constant so width is the main variable.

import puppeteer from 'puppeteer';
const url = 'https://example.com';
const widths = [375, 768, 1280];
const height = 900;
const browser = await puppeteer.launch();
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
for (const width of widths) {
await page.setViewport({ width, height, deviceScaleFactor: 1 });
await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'networkidle2' });
await page.screenshot({ path: `screenshot-${width}.png` });
}
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
The sequence is viewport setup, navigation, then capture. Puppeteer advises setting the viewport before navigating because “A lot of websites don’t expect phones to change size” after a page is open (Page.setViewport documentation). The snippet is a practical pattern assembled from the documented APIs, not a tested script.

Choose widths and keep comparisons fair
There is no universal set of responsive widths prescribed by Puppeteer. Use the breakpoints your site actually implements, or the device classes your team supports. A small, medium, and large sample can be a starting point, but does not prove the layout works at every intermediate width.

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
- Keep height, device scale factor, URL, browser version, and readiness criteria consistent when comparing width alone.
- Use deterministic filenames such as
home-375x900.png,home-768x900.png, andhome-1280x900.pngso images are easy to sort and compare. - Choose the same page state for each capture. If the page has animations, delayed content, or changing data, use an appropriate readiness condition or page-specific check rather than assuming one navigation wait means every element has settled.
Viewport width, device emulation, and browser-window sizing
Viewport-only responsive checks
page.setViewport({ width, height }) changes the browser’s CSS viewport dimensions, which is usually what you want to check responsive layout rules. It does not establish how the page behaves on every physical handset.
Device emulation
If the test also needs device metrics and a user agent, use Page.emulate(device), which sets the user agent and viewport together. Puppeteer recommends emulating before navigation (Page.emulate documentation). This is browser emulation, not a substitute for validation on physical devices.

Resizing the browser window
Changing a page viewport is not the same as controlling the browser window itself. Puppeteer’s window-management guidance covers Page.resize() for browser content sizing and shows page.setViewport(null) to remove the default viewport restriction in that context (Window management guide). Use the ordinary viewport loop for responsive page screenshots; use window-management APIs when the window’s dimensions are part of the workflow.

Choose the screenshot area and output format
Page.screenshot() captures the page. By default it captures the visible viewport. Set fullPage: true to capture the whole document, or use clip to capture a specific region. Puppeteer’s screenshot options also include type, path, encoding, quality, and omitBackground; the file extension can determine the image type when saving by path (ScreenshotOptions reference).

- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
await page.screenshot({
path: `screenshot-${width}-full.png`,
fullPage: true
});
When you only need one component, use ElementHandle.screenshot() rather than saving the entire page. Puppeteer can scroll the element into view when required (ElementHandle.screenshot documentation).
Wait for the right page state
The example uses waitUntil: 'networkidle2', an option demonstrated in Puppeteer’s screenshot guide before calling Page.screenshot() (Screenshots guide). It is not a guarantee that every visual element is ready: analytics, long-running requests, lazy-loaded content, or client-side rendering can affect what appears.

- CURVED FOR ENHANCED ENGAGEMENT: An immersive viewing experience with a curved monitor that wraps more closely around your field of vision; It creates a wider view, enhancing depth perception and minimizing peripheral distraction
- SMOOTH PERFORMANCE FOR SEAMLESS CONTENT: Stay in the action when playing games, watching videos, or working on creative projects; The 100Hz refresh rate reduces lag and motion blur so you don't miss a thing in fast-paced moments¹
- MORE GAMING POWER: Gain the edge with optimizable game settings; Color and image contrast can be adjusted to see scenes more vividly and spot enemies hiding in the dark; Game Mode adjusts any game to fill the screen so you can view every detail²
- KEEP IT EASY ON THE EYES: Care for your eyes and stay comfortable, even during long sessions; Advanced eye comfort technology certified by TÜV reduces eye strain by minimizing blue light and reducing irritating screen flicker²
- INCREASED VERSATILITY: Connect to more; Plug devices straight into your monitor for increased flexibility, making your computing environment even more convenient
- If navigation never settles because the page maintains network activity, try a different navigation condition appropriate to the site, then wait explicitly for a selector or state that indicates the content you need is ready.
- For lazy-loaded images, scrolling or other page-specific interaction may be needed before capture; verify the resulting image rather than assuming navigation alone loaded them.
- Use the same readiness rule for each viewport so differences are less likely to come from timing.
Troubleshooting common problems
The screenshot has the wrong dimensions
Check that setViewport() runs inside the loop before goto(), and confirm the width and height values are CSS pixels. Keep deviceScaleFactor fixed if the comparison is intended to vary only by viewport width.

A navigation condition alone may not cover all page-specific rendering. Wait for a meaningful selector or other readiness condition before taking the screenshot. For below-the-fold lazy content, trigger the loading behavior the page requires, or use a full-page capture only after confirming that the content has loaded.

The browser stays open after an error
Keep browser shutdown in a finally block as in the example. That way the browser is closed when navigation or capture throws an error.
Viewport changes reload or alter the page
Puppeteer documents that viewport changes can reload a page when isMobile or hasTouch changes. Set the desired viewport before navigation for a width loop; if changing mobile or touch emulation settings, account for the reload and recapture after the page is ready.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its capture flow accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. Plans include 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the same Puppeteer page for every viewport width?
Yes. Set the viewport, navigate to the URL, and capture within each loop iteration, as shown in the example.
Does a viewport screenshot verify how a real phone renders the site?
No. Puppeteer viewport sizing and device emulation are browser settings; they do not constitute testing on a physical handset.
