Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteOn most Samsung Galaxy devices, press and release the Side or Power key and Volume Down at the same time. To capture a page longer than one screen, use Scroll capture from the screenshot toolbar; to save motion as a video, look for Screen recorder in the Quick Panel. Which options appear depends on your model, software, settings, and the content you’re trying to capture.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
Press and release the Side or Power key and Volume Down simultaneously. A screen flash or preview usually confirms the capture. The buttons’ names and locations vary by device; check your model’s manual if the combination does not work. On some older Galaxy devices with a physical Home button, Samsung lists Power and Home as the screenshot combination. Samsung’s screenshot instructions and Samsung Canada’s guide describe these options.

Other ways to capture the screen
Use Palm swipe if your Galaxy supports it
Search Settings for “Palm swipe to capture.” If the option is available, it may also be under Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures. Turn it on, then swipe the edge of your hand horizontally across the screen. Samsung notes that gesture availability varies by model and software, and Palm swipe cannot be used while the keyboard is showing. If the setting is absent, your device may not support this gesture. See Samsung’s instructions and its UK support guide.
Try voice commands or S Pen Screen Write
Samsung lists Bixby and Google Assistant voice commands as possible hands-free screenshot routes, but availability depends on the device and configured assistant. On Galaxy devices equipped with an S Pen, open Air Command and select Screen Write to capture and annotate the screen. These are optional methods, not features available on every Galaxy.

Capture a long page as one image
Scroll capture can extend a screenshot down a webpage or other scrollable content, saving the result as one image. First take an ordinary screenshot on the page. When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap its Scroll capture control; tap it again as needed to capture more of the page. Samsung describes the feature in its Scroll capture instructions.
- The control generally appears when content continues beyond the visible screen; it may be unavailable in some apps or websites.
- If it is missing, check whether the screenshot toolbar is enabled and whether the page can scroll.
- Scroll capture is for extended still images, not video.
Edit, find, and share the screenshot
Tap the screenshot preview to open the available toolbar options. Depending on your device and software, you may be able to crop, draw, add a tag, or share directly. To find a saved screenshot later, open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots, or look in My Files > Images. Select the image and use Share to send it. Menu names and available tools can vary across Galaxy models and software versions. Samsung’s guide describes the toolbar and saved-image locations.

When to record the screen instead
A screenshot saves one still image. To capture activity as video, check the Quick Panel for Screen recorder, if your Galaxy supports it. Samsung documents options such as sound selection and showing touch interactions in its screen-recording guide. Some photos or videos are protected and cannot be recorded.

Samsung’s UK support guide gives version-specific limits: on Android 10 with One UI 2.5, recording is limited to up to one hour or 4 GB; on Android 11 with One UI 3.0 or later, it states there is no file-size or recording-time limit. These instructions do not establish support or limits for every Galaxy model, so check the guide or manual for your device. Samsung also explains how to use Screen recorder.

If a screenshot method does not work
- Buttons: Confirm the correct keys and press them together, then release. Older devices may use Power and a physical Home button.
- Palm swipe: Check that the setting exists and is enabled, and close the keyboard before swiping. The gesture may not be supported on your model.
- Scroll capture: Make sure the page extends beyond one screen and the screenshot toolbar is enabled. Some apps and sites do not offer the control.
- Protected content: An app may intentionally block screenshots or recordings for privacy, security, or copyright reasons. The restriction is not necessarily a device fault.
- Screen recording: Look for Screen recorder in the Quick Panel; its availability and settings depend on the model and software.
