The Dell XPS 14 DA14260 is a premium 14-inch laptop whose most consequential choice is the display: a 1920×1200 non-touch panel or a sharper 2880×1800 OLED touchscreen. In Tom’s Guide’s 2026 Wi-Fi browsing test, the tested 1200p LED model lasted 20 hours 41 minutes, while its OLED-equipped unit lasted 12 hours 23 minutes. Those are results from specific review configurations and a controlled test—not promises for every XPS 14 or workload.
What was reviewed—and what varies
Dell identifies this generation as the XPS 14 DA14260. It is configurable, so processor, memory, storage, operating system and display can vary by market and SKU. Performance and battery results should be read as evidence about the named review units, not every configuration sold under the model name. Dell’s product page describes it as “Built for creation on the go” and calls it the company’s thinnest 14-inch laptop; that is Dell’s marketing description, rather than an independent measurement.

Which XPS 14 display should you choose?
Dell’s 2026 reviewer guide lists two 14-inch panel options. Their stated specifications point to different priorities: battery-conscious everyday use versus higher resolution, touch and wider color coverage. Availability can depend on region and configuration, so confirm the panel on the exact SKU before ordering.

|---|---|---|
| 1920×1200 LED, non-touch | 500 nits typical brightness; 100% sRGB; 1–120 Hz refresh rate | Buyers who value the lower-resolution option and the stronger battery result in Tom’s Guide’s cited test. |
| 2880×1800 OLED, touchscreen | 400 nits typical, 500 nits peak; 100% DCI-P3; 20–120 Hz refresh rate | Buyers who prioritize sharper resolution, touch input, OLED contrast and broader listed color gamut. |
The OLED option is the screen-first choice on paper. The LED panel is the more compelling option if long browsing-session battery life matters more, based on the particular units and test described below. Neither result establishes how every configuration will behave in mixed real-world use.

How long does the XPS 14 battery last?
Tom’s Guide reported 12 hours 23 minutes for its OLED-equipped XPS 14 and 20 hours 41 minutes for a tested 1200p LED model in continuous Wi-Fi web browsing at 150 nits in 2026. The comparison illustrates that panel and configuration matter. It does not isolate the display as the sole cause, because the tested models differ, and it should not be treated as an expected runtime for video editing, gaming, high brightness or other workloads. See the Tom’s Guide review for its test context.
How does it handle work and creative tasks?
Independent reviews position the XPS 14 as a premium portable productivity laptop with scope for some light creative work. Tom’s Guide reported a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 16,927 for its review unit; that benchmark belongs to that unit and is not a guaranteed score for other processor or memory configurations.

Integrated graphics and configuration differences are important when judging demanding applications. The available independent-review evidence does not support treating the DA14260 as a dedicated-GPU gaming laptop or workstation. For GPU-heavy work, compare the exact processor and graphics hardware in the SKU against the software’s requirements rather than relying on the XPS 14 name alone. RTINGS discusses the model’s configuration and comparison considerations in its XPS 14 review.
What ports does it have, and will you need a dock?
Dell’s manual documents Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 2.1 support, along with a headset port. Dell lists up to 40 Gbps transfer speed for Thunderbolt 4. Its manual describes connecting a Dell docking station to attach multiple devices, including external monitors. Tom’s Guide notes that the laptop lacks a microSD slot.

This USB-C-centered setup can work well with modern peripherals and displays, but check your own devices before buying. If you rely on card readers or legacy USB connections, you may need a compatible adapter or dock; it is optional, not an inherent requirement for every user. The manual also describes a haptic touchpad, ambient-light sensor, RGB camera and IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition.
Who should buy the Dell XPS 14 DA14260?
- Consider it if you want a premium 14-inch portable laptop, a choice between a standard-resolution non-touch screen and a higher-resolution OLED touchscreen, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
- Choose the LED panel if battery life is a higher priority than OLED, touch and the higher resolution, while remembering the cited test compared different review configurations.
- Choose OLED if touch input, resolution, contrast and the listed color gamut matter more to you than the longer result in that browsing test.
- Look elsewhere or verify carefully if your work depends on sustained heavy GPU performance, or your daily setup needs built-in card readers and legacy ports.
- Check the exact regional SKU for processor, RAM, storage, operating system and panel before paying. RTINGS reports configurations up to 64 GB RAM and Windows or Ubuntu availability, but that does not establish that every option is on sale in every market.
Verdict
The XPS 14 DA14260 makes the most sense when its premium portable design, display choice and USB-C connectivity match your priorities. The display decision is not cosmetic: it changes the features you get and, in Tom’s Guide’s specific test, coincided with a substantial difference in measured browsing runtime. Buy by exact configuration, not by assuming every XPS 14 has the same screen, battery life or performance.
