Reset the webpage’s page zoom to 100%, verify the browser’s zoom indicator, then capture the visible viewport or the full page. Page zoom sets how large webpage content appears; it does not set the screenshot’s pixel dimensions or device-pixel ratio.
Reset page zoom before you capture
- Open the webpage and wait for it to finish loading.
- Reset the webpage’s page zoom to 100%. On Edge, press Ctrl+0 on Windows or Linux, or Command+0 on macOS. In Chrome, open the More menu and use the visible Zoom percentage control to return to the default; Chrome’s Appearance settings also provide a Page zoom choice.
- Check the browser’s zoom indicator and confirm it reads 100%. If the page still appears unusually scaled, check whether a site-specific zoom level is overriding the global setting.
- Choose the capture scope: a normal system screenshot or a browser’s visible-area option captures what is on screen; a full-page option captures the document beyond the viewport.
- Save the image or copy it to the clipboard, depending on the capture tool.
Browser-specific instructions
Chrome
Open the More menu and use its Zoom controls to adjust the current page. Chrome’s Appearance settings include a Page zoom setting for webpages generally. Site-specific zoom levels are managed under Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Additional content settings > Zoom levels. Edge
For a page-level reset, use Ctrl+0 on Windows or Linux, or Command+0 on macOS. Edge also has a default Page zoom setting under Settings > Accessibility and controls for site-specific zoom. See Microsoft Edge accessibility features.

Use the zoom percentage and minus/plus controls in the Firefox menu to return the page to 100%. To capture, right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot, or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux (Command+Shift+S on Mac). For technical capture, Firefox DevTools can enable a toolbox button to take a screenshot of the entire page. Its Web Console :screenshot helper supports options including --fullpage, --dpr, --delay, and a filename. The --dpr value controls device-pixel-ratio for output, not webpage zoom. Safari
Figma’s browser-configuration guide documents setting a particular site to 100% through Safari > Preferences > Websites > Page Zoom. That is the path given in Figma’s guide; menu labels and locations can vary with macOS releases. See Figma: Set up your browser for Figma.

What 100% browser zoom does—and does not—mean
Page zoom controls the scale of webpage content in the browser. It is separate from operating-system display scaling, viewport size, device-pixel-ratio, and the zoom level of browser DevTools. In Edge DevTools, the reset command applies to whichever area has focus, so focus the rendered webpage when that is what you intend to reset. Microsoft explains the distinction in its Edge DevTools zoom guidance.
Returning page zoom to 100% does not guarantee a particular screenshot resolution or identical layout across browsers. A viewport screenshot and full-page screenshot also cover different areas. For a repeatable design comparison or evidence capture, record the browser and version, operating system, viewport dimensions, page zoom, capture scope, and any device-pixel-ratio setting.
