On Windows, use the Camera app; on Mac, use Photo Booth.
Take a photo with a Logitech webcam in Windows
- Connect the webcam and make sure it is turned on.
- Open Start, type Camera, and open the Windows Camera app.
- If your computer has more than one camera, select the app’s Change camera control until the Logitech webcam is active.
- Select Photo mode, then select Take photo.
- Select the thumbnail in the lower-right area to view the picture. To find its folder, open the app’s ellipsis menu and select Open Folder.
Microsoft says the Camera app can take photos with a built-in camera or a connected webcam, and Logitech gives it as a Windows capture-software example for the C922. Button placement and appearance can vary by Windows version. Microsoft’s Camera app guide and Logitech’s C922 instructions describe these options.

Take a photo with a Logitech webcam on Mac
- Connect the webcam and make sure it is turned on.
- Open Photo Booth. If it is showing a review view, return to its standard photo view.
- Choose the single-picture button in the lower-left area. Choose the four-picture option only if you want a sequence of four images.
- Click Take Photo. The captured image appears in Photo Booth.
Apple documents Photo Booth with an external video camera connected to a Mac. See Apple’s Photo Booth instructions. Logitech’s C922 support page also names QuickTime Player for Mac as a capture-software example; that C922-specific note does not establish a software requirement for every Logitech webcam.

- Check that the webcam is connected and powered on. Many modern Logitech webcams connect over USB and are recognized by the operating system, though connection and compatibility depend on the model.
- If more than one camera is available, use the camera-selection control in the app to choose the Logitech webcam.
- Check that the operating system has allowed the camera app to access the camera. Permission screens vary by operating system version.

Do you need Logitech software to take a picture?
Not necessarily. The Windows Camera app and Mac Photo Booth provide straightforward still-photo workflows. Logitech’s C922 page describes third-party capture software for that model; it should not be read as a universal requirement for all Logitech webcams.
Logitech Capture is presented as video recording and streaming software, not as the default still-photo app. Its product page lists Windows 10 and macOS 10.14, 10.15, and macOS 11 Big Sur on Intel as system requirements, so those dated requirements are not a sound basis for assuming current compatibility. Logitech Capture product information provides the listed details.
