On most Samsung Galaxy phones, press and briefly release the Power or Side button and Volume Down at the same time. For a long webpage, take a screenshot and tap Scroll capture on the toolbar that appears. Samsung usually calls a phone “snapshot” a screenshot.
How do I take a screenshot on my Samsung phone?
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Briefly press and release the Power/Side button and Volume Down together. On a Galaxy phone with a physical Home button, press Power and Home together instead.
- Look for the screen flash that indicates the screenshot was captured. If a toolbar appears, use it to edit or share the image.
Press the buttons simultaneously, but do not hold them. On some models, holding the combination can open the power menu. Button names, positions, and layouts differ by model; a bulky case may also make the buttons harder to press. Samsung’s button and layout guidance covers these variations.

How do I take a long screenshot?
- Open the long webpage or other scrollable content.
- Take a regular screenshot with the buttons.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture to extend the image down the page.
- Continue tapping the control to capture more, then stop when you have enough.
Scroll capture is offered when content extends beyond the screen, but availability and the toolbar’s appearance vary by device and software. If the option does not appear, the content may fit on one screen, or your model may display the feature differently. See Samsung’s instructions for Scroll capture.

Can I use a gesture instead of the buttons?
Some Galaxy phones support Palm swipe to capture. Enable it in Settings under Advanced features, usually within Motions and gestures, then swipe the edge of your hand across the screen. Menu names can vary; if the setting is missing, your model may not support the gesture. Samsung’s gesture guidance explains the option.

Where are my screenshots saved?
Open Gallery, go to Albums, and select Screenshots. Samsung’s UK support guide identifies this album as the place to find saved screenshots.
Why can’t I capture a screen?
- The button combination opens the power menu: press and release both buttons briefly rather than holding them.
- Palm swipe does nothing: check that the setting is enabled and that your phone supports the gesture.
- Scroll capture is absent: check that the page continues beyond the visible screen; the feature’s availability and presentation depend on the model and software.
- The screenshot is blocked: some apps and screens restrict capture for privacy or security. Samsung names banking apps as one example; a blocked capture does not necessarily indicate a phone fault.
- The buttons are difficult to reach: check your model’s button layout and whether the case is interfering. Samsung notes that placement varies by device.

Should I take a screenshot or record the screen?
Use a screenshot for a still image. For motion, such as a walkthrough, use Screen recorder if your device and the content support it. Samsung cautions that recording is not available for every device, screen, or protected item; see its screen capture and recording guidance.
