On a Samsung Galaxy A13, press the Power/Side button and Volume Down together, then release them promptly. A brief screen flash confirms the capture. The screenshot is saved in Gallery, usually in Albums > Screenshots.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Power/Side button and Volume Down at the same time.
- Release both buttons as soon as the screen flashes.
This is Samsung’s standard Galaxy shortcut. On some software versions or models, holding the buttons too long can open another control, such as the power menu. If that happens, dismiss it and try again with a brief, simultaneous press and release. Button placement and behavior can vary across models and software versions. Choose between the button shortcut and Palm swipe

Enable Palm swipe to capture, if available
- Open Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures.
- Turn on Palm swipe to capture, if the setting appears.
- Swipe the edge of your hand across the screen to take a screenshot.
If the setting is missing, your Galaxy A13’s software or regional or carrier variant may not support the gesture. Samsung notes that feature availability and menu names can vary. Samsung’s UK guide also cautions that button behavior can differ by model.

For a long webpage or document, first take a regular screenshot. When the screenshot toolbar appears and the content continues below the screen, tap Scroll capture to extend the image downward. The control appears only when the content can be scrolled; it is not a separate way to start a basic screenshot. The toolbar and its options may vary with your phone’s software.

Find your screenshot
Open Gallery and look in Albums > Screenshots. Samsung says screenshots are saved to Gallery automatically. From there, open the image to review or share it.

Some apps and protected screens block screenshots for security. If you see a message such as “Can’t take screenshot due to security measure,” the app or device is restricting capture; it does not necessarily mean the buttons are faulty. Samsung describes this restriction for secure contexts such as banking apps.

For button-related trouble, make sure both buttons are pressed together and released promptly. If the power menu appears, the press was likely held too long. For Palm swipe, confirm the option exists and is enabled before trying the gesture.
