To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy A12, press the Power/Side button and Volume Down at the same time, then release as soon as the screen flashes. The image is normally saved in Gallery > Albums > Screenshots. If the buttons are awkward to use, try Palm swipe or an Edge panel shortcut if your software offers it.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Briefly press the Power/Side button and Volume Down together.
- Release when the display flashes to confirm the capture.
Samsung identifies Power/Side plus Volume Down as the common Galaxy screenshot method (Samsung UK support). Use a quick press rather than holding the buttons: a long hold can open the power menu on some software.

Samsung’s general Galaxy instructions cover Palm swipe and the Tasks panel, while an A12 community response also describes the Edge panel route (Samsung Galaxy screenshot guidance; Samsung Community). If a setting or panel is missing, use the button method instead. Voice commands and S Pen Screen write are listed for compatible Galaxy devices, but are not established here as standard A12 features.

Find, edit, or share the screenshot
Open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots to find saved captures. You can also use My Files > Images. From Gallery or My Files, open the image to crop or edit it, or choose the sharing control to send it. Toolbar controls can vary by software.

Capture a long page
After taking a normal screenshot, tap the scroll-capture control if it appears in the screenshot toolbar. It can extend the capture down a page, but not every app or screen supports scrolling capture.

If the screenshot does not work
- Power menu appears: press Power/Side and Volume Down briefly together, then release at the flash rather than holding them.
- Palm swipe is unavailable: check whether the setting exists on your phone before relying on the gesture. Availability varies by model and software.
- Capture is blocked: some apps or protected screens prevent screenshots for privacy or security; a security-measure message may appear. Use the app’s permitted options rather than trying to bypass the restriction.
- Menus do not match: the Galaxy A12 family has multiple model variants and manuals for different Android versions, so labels and optional features can differ (Samsung Galaxy A12 support).
