On Android, “responsive screenshot” can mean either a long capture that continues below the screen or a capture of a website after switching it to its desktop layout. They are separate choices: first decide how much of the page to capture, then choose whether Chrome should request the mobile or desktop view. To capture a normal screenshot, press Power + Volume Down.
Take a standard screenshot
- Open the website in your browser and bring the content you want into view.
- Press Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- Use the screenshot preview, Photos, or your device’s Gallery app to view, edit, share, or save the image.
If the button shortcut does not work, Android Help says to hold the Power button briefly and tap Screenshot. The exact controls can vary by device manufacturer.

Capture more of a page with a scrolling screenshot
Android’s system scrolling screenshot controls are available on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling. They are not guaranteed to work on every webpage, app, or device.

- Press Power + Volume Down while the page is open.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the captured screen.
- Move the crop guides to include the additional page content you want.
- Save or share the resulting capture using the preview controls.
Use Chrome’s Long screenshot option
Chrome documents a separate way to make a longer capture from its Share menu. Availability and labels can vary by Chrome version and page.

- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share… > Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to extend the capture to the content you need.
- Tap Confirm, then share the image with another app or save it to your device.
Choose the website’s desktop or mobile layout
A desktop-site request changes the layout Chrome asks the website to serve; it does not make the screenshot longer. To request the desktop layout for the current site, use More > Desktop site. If the page still looks mobile-sized, check that the option is selected and refresh. Some websites may override the preference.
Chrome also provides a setting at Settings > Site settings > Desktop site. The available choices include Default view, Mobile site, and Desktop site, with site exceptions. Chrome’s current help says automatic desktop selection defaults to mobile sites on devices with less than 8 GB of RAM; manually requesting Desktop site is the relevant action when you want to try the desktop layout.

Understand what Page Zoom changes
Chrome’s More > Zoom control adjusts the scale of a page for a specific site. To expose a general zoom control, use Settings > Accessibility > Show Zoom. Zoom is not documented as a way to emulate a different responsive breakpoint or device viewport. For precise responsive-design inspection at specific viewport widths, these Android user-facing controls do not provide a documented viewport-width emulation workflow.

Official instructions do not provide a universal compatibility matrix for devices, browser versions, and webpages. Try whichever control your device offers. Neither long-capture option by itself switches the site to a desktop layout.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The button shortcut does not take a screenshot: Hold Power briefly and tap Screenshot, or check your device maker’s instructions for its controls.
- Capture more is missing: The system feature is documented for Android 12 and later and most scrollable screens, not every screen. Try Chrome’s Long screenshot option if it is available.
- Chrome’s Long screenshot option is missing: The documented steps do not guarantee identical availability in every Chrome version or on every page. Use the system scrolling screenshot controls if your device offers them.
- The screenshot ends at the visible screen: A standard screenshot captures what is visible. Start a scrolling or Long screenshot workflow instead.
- The site still shows its mobile layout: Select More > Desktop site and refresh. A site can override the preference.
- Zoom does not create the layout you expected: Zoom changes page scale; it is not documented as exact responsive viewport emulation.
