Disable JavaScript before navigating
Use this complete example to save a viewport screenshot as a PNG:

}Replace the example URL with the page you want to capture. The important order is to disable JavaScript before page.goto(). Puppeteer’s Page.setJavaScriptEnabled() reference notes that changing the setting will not affect scripts that have already run and takes full effect on the next navigation.
Choose what the screenshot contains
Page.screenshot() captures the page and returns image data; supplying path saves it to disk. The main options let you control capture scope and output:

Without fullPage: true, the screenshot is limited to the viewport. For example:
await page.screenshot({ path: 'full-page.png', fullPage: true });To keep the image in memory rather than saving it, omit path; the method returns a Uint8Array by default. Set encoding: 'base64' to receive a base64 string instead. The ScreenshotOptions reference documents these options.

Capture one element instead of the whole page
If you need a specific element, use the official guide’s element-level approach rather than capturing the full document. Locate the element and call its screenshot() method:

What changes when JavaScript is off
Pages that rely on client-side scripts may show less content or fewer interactions when JavaScript is disabled. That is a possibility, not a guaranteed result for every site: the output also depends on the HTML, stylesheets, images, and other resources the browser successfully loads. If the exact rendered result matters, inspect the target page’s output rather than assuming it will match its normal JavaScript-enabled appearance.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The page still appears to have JavaScript content: Move
setJavaScriptEnabled(false)before the navigation you are capturing. It does not reverse scripts that ran earlier; navigate again after changing the setting. - The screenshot is only the visible portion: Set
fullPage: trueif you need the full document. The default is viewport capture. - The output format is unexpected: Check the file extension used by
pathand settypeexplicitly if you need a particular format. - A selected element is missing: Verify the CSS selector and that the element exists in the no-JavaScript rendering. The page may create it only through a script that is now disabled.
- Some page resources are absent: Disabling JavaScript does not itself guarantee that stylesheets, images, or other resources load. The screenshot reflects what the browser actually receives and renders.
