To capture an entire rendered page with Browserless, send a POST request to the current /screenshot endpoint with options.fullPage set to true, then save the binary response as an image. If the page uses lazy loading, add the top-level scrollPage: true option so scrolling can trigger content before capture.
Make a full-page screenshot with cURL
Use the host assigned to your Browserless account or fleet. This documented example uses the shared production SFO endpoint; replace the sample token with your own and keep it private.

Both examples below send the same JSON settings and write the returned response bytes to a file.

A full-page capture does not guarantee that every lazy-loaded image or section has been fetched: many sites load content only after it approaches the viewport. Browserless documents a top-level scrollPage: true setting to scroll the page before the full-page screenshot. Add it alongside url and options:

}Inspect the resulting image for page-specific content that requires an interaction rather than scrolling—for example, a section revealed only after clicking a control. A single REST screenshot request is a one-shot job, not a live browser session in which you can interact midway through the capture.

Choose the right capture settings
- Full page or viewport:
options.fullPage: truecaptures the full rendered page instead of only the visible viewport. Omit it when you need only the viewport. - Image format: The current REST overview lists PNG, JPEG, and WebP. PNG is used in the examples; ensure your filename matches the format you request.
- Page dimensions and detail: Browserless documents screenshot controls including viewport size and device scale factor. Clip regions, selectors, and waits are also available for cases where you need a bounded area or particular content. Use the REST API schema for the exact accepted request shape.
- Quality: Do not assume options from one Browserless interface apply unchanged to another. The separate BrowserQL screenshot mutation documents a quality value from 0 to 100 and says it does not apply to PNG; that is a BrowserQL schema detail, not a universal REST setting.
What a REST screenshot can and cannot do
The Screenshot REST API is suited to independent captures: Browserless launches a browser, performs one task, and closes it. REST requests do not preserve browser session state or provide real-time interaction. If your workflow requires a persistent login, a sequence of clicks, or continuing interaction, consider a BaaS browser session or BrowserQL persisted state instead. Browserless describes these distinctions in its BaaS and endpoint documentation.

The example host is a shared-fleet endpoint, not a universal host for every account. Browserless distinguishes shared and private fleets; use the endpoint assigned to your account or deployment.

Troubleshoot missing or failed captures
The screenshot contains only the visible portion
Check that fullPage is inside the options object and is the boolean true, not the string "true". Save the response bytes rather than trying to parse them as JSON.
Images or sections are missing
Try the top-level scrollPage: true together with options.fullPage: true so scrolling can trigger lazy loading. Content that depends on a click or other interaction may need a workflow with browser interaction rather than a single screenshot request.

The result is blank, a CAPTCHA, or an access-denied page
The target may be blocking automation. Browserless identifies bot challenges and denied responses as possible outcomes, and documents the /unblock API and residential proxies as possible routes. Those measures are not a guarantee that every site or protection will be bypassed; Browserless describes bypass availability as limited. See the Browserless Unblock API documentation and its connection and endpoint guidance.
The request fails against the example host
Verify that the token is valid and that you are using the host assigned to your account. The SFO hostname in the example is a documented shared-fleet endpoint; private deployments can have a different host.

You are following an older endpoint example
Use the current Screenshot REST API instructions rather than the older BaaS v1 screenshot endpoint. Browserless marks its v1 screenshot guidance as deprecated and directs users to BaaS v2 or BrowserQL; the current REST screenshot page documents the request used here. Does the screenshot response contain JSON?
No. The endpoint returns image data, so write the response body directly to a file with a matching image extension.
Can a REST screenshot preserve my site’s login between requests?
No. REST screenshot jobs are stateless and do not preserve session state; use a browser-session workflow when persistence or ongoing interaction is required.
