To capture an entire page with ApiFlash, send a request to https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage with your access key, a fully qualified page URL, and full_page=true. Full-page mode captures the page height and makes the height parameter irrelevant.
Make a full-page capture with cURL
ApiFlash accepts GET requests with query-string parameters and POST requests with form data. This GET example saves the returned image bytes directly to a file:

A full-height image can still miss content that has not loaded or appeared yet. ApiFlash’s default readiness condition is network_idle. Pick a different wait strategy when the page’s behavior calls for it:

wait_until=dom_loadedwaits for the DOM-loaded condition;wait_until=page_loadeduses the page-loaded condition. The documentedwait_until_timeoutrange is 1–30 seconds. If the timeout expires, capture proceeds with what has loaded.wait_forcan wait for a CSS selector that identifies content you need. If no matching element appears within 15 seconds, capture is aborted. It is useful for a known element inserted after initial loading.scroll_page=truescrolls through the page before capture, which can trigger animations or lazy-loaded content. The FAQ also recommends waiting for an element when lazy loading inserts it after scrolling.delayaccepts 0–10 seconds. ApiFlash advises preferringwait_fororwait_untilwhen possible because they are more reliable readiness controls.
For example, to wait for a late-rendered article body, add --data-urlencode 'wait_for=article' to the cURL command. Use a selector that actually appears on your target page. More details are in the ApiFlash FAQ and API reference.
Save image bytes or request JSON links
The default response is the image itself, which is why the cURL example writes it to a file. If you need a response with links instead, set response_type=json. ApiFlash documents JSON containing links to the screenshot and, when requested, extracted HTML or text. Handle that response as JSON rather than saving it with an image extension.

Encode parameters and protect your key
URL-encode parameter values when they contain special characters. This is especially important for target URLs with their own query parameters, CSS selectors, custom headers, cookies, or JavaScript. The cURL example uses --data-urlencode so values are encoded instead of assembled by string concatenation.

Full-page limits, caching, and request rates
Image dimensions
The API reference documents a maximum viewport width and height of 16,350 pixels and a maximum viewport area of 33,177,600 pixels. WebP output also has a maximum width and height of 16,350 pixels after the scale factor. These constraints matter for very long pages or captures using a high scale factor. In full-page mode, the height parameter is ignored.
Cache behavior
Identical request parameters can return a cached image. The documented ttl range is 0–2,592,000 seconds. Set fresh=true to request a new capture without deleting the previous cached result. The FAQ says cached and failed screenshots do not count toward the monthly quota; check the live FAQ for current service behavior.

Rate limits and errors
The API reference documents a rate of 20 requests per second with a burst of 400. Requests beyond the processing rate may be delayed, and requests beyond the burst can receive HTTP 429. Quota information is available in response headers or through the quota endpoint. Documented error statuses include 400, 401, 402, 403, 429, and 500. For 429 responses, ApiFlash’s terms of service direct users to use exponential backoff.

- The request returns an error instead of an image: Check the HTTP status and response body. Confirm the endpoint, access key, and fully qualified target URL; the API documents 400, 401, 402, 403, 429, and 500 responses.
- The screenshot misses content near the bottom: Confirm that
full_page=trueis present. If images or sections load only after scrolling, tryscroll_page=true; if a specific element appears late, usewait_forwith its CSS selector. - The capture starts before a component appears: Use a selector wait for that component or choose a suitable
wait_untilcondition. A delay is available, but the documentation favors readiness conditions where possible. - The request fails while waiting for a selector: Verify the selector against the rendered page. ApiFlash aborts if
wait_forfinds no match after 15 seconds. - The saved file is not a readable image: Check whether you requested
response_type=json. JSON mode returns links and should be parsed as JSON, not saved as raw image bytes. - You receive HTTP 429: Reduce request pressure and retry with exponential backoff, as directed by the ApiFlash terms.
