To capture an entire responsive webpage at mobile width, first set a narrow viewport in your browser’s device simulation, then use its full-page capture command. In Chrome, turn on Device Mode, set a device preset or custom width, and choose Capture a full size screenshot from DevTools’ More options menu. This captures below-the-fold content as well as the visible screen.
Take a full-page mobile-width screenshot in Chrome
- Open the page and DevTools. In desktop Chrome, load the webpage and open DevTools.
- Enable Device Mode. Turn on the device toolbar so Chrome renders the page in a simulated mobile viewport.
- Set the viewport width. Choose a device preset or enter a custom width. A named phone preset is optional; for a repeatable result, record the width you used.
- Load content that appears on scroll. Wait for the initial page to settle, then scroll through it as needed to trigger lazy-loaded images or other on-demand content.
- Capture the whole page. Open DevTools’ More options menu and select Capture a full size screenshot. This is the full-page command; an ordinary screenshot captures only the current viewport.
- Check the saved image. Look for missing images, clipped sections, sticky or fixed elements repeated or obscuring content, and a layout that does not match the intended mobile width.
Chrome’s Device Mode documentation describes device simulation and full-size capture. Device Mode is a viewport simulation, not a guarantee that the result will match every physical phone, operating system, browser, or pixel density.

Use Firefox as an alternative
- Open the page in Firefox and enable Responsive Design Mode to set the content area to a mobile screen size.
- In DevTools settings, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page if the screenshot control is not available.
- Use the screenshot icon to capture the full page. Mozilla also documents the Web Console command
:screenshot <filename.png> --fullpage.
See Mozilla’s full-page screenshot documentation and Responsive Design Mode documentation. The toolbar control may be disabled until you enable it in settings.

Apple documents Responsive Design Mode as a way to preview a page at different viewport widths, heights, and display pixel ratios, and to debug layout with Web Inspector. The cited Apple documentation does not establish a full-page screenshot procedure, so use Chrome or Firefox for the documented browser-based full-page workflows above. ScreenshotNeo offers a screenshot API: a GET request with a URL returns an image or PDF. Its consent cleanup can accept cookie banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can also be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Every feature is available on every plan. See ScreenshotNeo and the API documentation.
For a mobile-width capture, pass the target URL and viewport width:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com --data-urlencode width=390 -o shot.webp
Replace the example URL and set width to the viewport width you want. Configure full-page capture and output format using the API options in the docs. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.

Common problems and fixes
- The image shows desktop layout. Set Device Mode or Responsive Design Mode before capturing; changing the width after capture cannot change the page’s responsive layout in that saved image.
- Content below the fold is missing. Use the full-size or full-page command, not the ordinary viewport screenshot.
- Images or sections are blank. Scroll through the page before capture to trigger lazy loading, then wait for content to finish appearing.
- The screenshot looks unlike a particular phone. A simulated viewport is useful for a consistent width, but it does not establish identical rendering on every physical device or browser.
- Firefox’s screenshot control is unavailable. Enable the entire-page screenshot option in DevTools settings, then use the screenshot icon.
