To upload SingleFile archives directly to Google Drive, open SingleFile’s extension options and enable Destination > save to Google Drive. Then use SingleFile’s context menu to turn on auto-save for the current tab, unpinned tabs, or all tabs. If you want to keep using the browser’s local download folder, you can instead sync that computer folder with Google Drive for desktop.

SingleFile’s project documentation says auto-save captures pages after they load, or before they unload if they have not yet been saved. SingleFile produces standalone HTML archives. Its project lists support for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Vivaldi, Brave, Waterfox, Yandex Browser, and Opera; check the extension options in your browser because labels and behavior can vary. SingleFile project documentation also describes the Drive destination and auto-save controls. The Chrome Web Store listing identifies the extension and its Google Drive destination; its listing metadata gives version 1.28.0, updated October 2, 2026.
Choose direct upload or a synced local folder
| Approach | Best when | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| SingleFile direct upload | You want the extension to save archives to Drive without configuring a separate folder sync. | Enable Destination > save to Google Drive in SingleFile’s options. |
| Browser download folder plus Drive for desktop | You want archives to continue landing in your browser’s configured local download folder, with that folder synced to Drive. | Add the computer folder in Drive for desktop. Google says local computer folders are mirrored, so they retain a full local copy and use disk space. |
Google’s Drive for desktop setup guide explains how to add folders from a computer for syncing. The direct SingleFile route is simpler if the desired destination is Drive itself; the desktop route fits a workflow that depends on a local folder as well.

Understand Drive streaming, mirroring, and local storage
Google distinguishes between streaming and mirroring Drive files. Streaming keeps files primarily in the cloud and uses less local storage; mirroring keeps a full local copy for offline access and consumes disk space. Google’s guide says computer folders added for syncing are mirrored, so expect those local folders to remain on disk. See Google’s explanation of streaming and mirroring for the mode details.
Check sync status before moving or deleting archives
If you use Drive for desktop, wait for recent changes to finish uploading before moving or deleting a mirrored archive folder. Google warns that unsynced changes may be lost if a mirrored folder is deleted before its changes have uploaded. Work or school account administrators may also restrict Drive for desktop or control its installation. See Google’s sync-mode and unsynced-file guidance and the desktop setup notes.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
SingleFile saves locally instead of to Drive
Reopen the extension options and confirm Destination > save to Google Drive is enabled. If it is not, SingleFile uses its local destination, which defaults to the browser’s configured download folder.
Auto-save is not active on the tabs you expected
Open SingleFile’s context menu and check which tab scope you enabled: current tab, unpinned tabs, or all tabs. Choose the scope that matches the pages you intend to archive.

The archive is on the computer but not visible in Drive
This is expected if SingleFile is saving to the local download folder and that folder has not been added to Drive for desktop. Add the computer folder in Drive for desktop, then check its sync status. If you intended a direct upload, verify the SingleFile Drive destination instead.
A folder change appears to have removed unsynced files
Do not delete or move a mirrored folder until Drive for desktop shows the recent changes have uploaded. Google warns that deleting a folder before pending changes finish syncing can lose those changes.
