To sync Koofr between a computer and phone, sign in to the same Koofr account in both apps. The desktop app syncs selected computer folders with matching folders in your Koofr account; the mobile app lets you browse cloud files and upload phone files. For a phone upload to reach your computer, save it in a cloud folder that the desktop app syncs.
What Koofr syncs by default
When you set up the Koofr desktop app, its default local folder named Koofr syncs with My desktop sync in your Koofr account. This is a folder-to-folder sync, not a mirror of every folder in your cloud account. Files elsewhere in the account are not automatically copied to the computer. The computer’s desktop client must be online for synchronization to happen. Files already in Koofr remain in the cloud and can be accessed through the mobile app when the phone has connectivity.
Set up the computer and phone
- Install the desktop app. Download the Koofr desktop app for your computer’s operating system, install it, and sign in to your account. The default local Koofr folder is paired with My desktop sync in the account. Koofr’s desktop setup guide explains the initial sync.
- Sign in on your phone. Install or open the Koofr mobile app and use the same account. Browse the cloud folders you want to access.
- Upload a phone file to the right cloud folder. In the mobile app, use its upload controls and choose a destination. To have that file sync down to the computer, choose My desktop sync or another cloud folder paired with a local folder in the desktop app. Koofr’s instructions cover uploads from Android and copying files in the mobile app on iOS or Android.
Choose between default and custom desktop sync

To add a custom sync, open the desktop app, select Syncs in the left menu, choose Create new, select the local folder, choose its Koofr destination, and finish setup. The exact folder pairing determines what moves between the computer and cloud. Koofr documents the steps in its guide to creating new syncs. Avoid selecting a whole system drive or operating-system folders.

Upload phone photos automatically or manually
Manual upload gives you control over which files you send and where they go. Automatic camera uploads are a separate setting, configured on each phone. If you use more than one phone, enabling uploads on one does not enable them on the others; Koofr confirms the setting is per device.
Android: configure media upload
In Koofr, open Settings > Media upload and enable Upload new media files. Review whether to include existing media, whether uploads should run only on Wi-Fi, and which Koofr destination folder to use. Choose a desktop-synced destination if you want uploaded photos and videos to arrive on the computer. The Android options are described in Koofr’s Android upload guide.

iPhone or iPad: configure camera upload
In the Koofr app, open Settings > Auto camera upload, enable Backup photos and videos, and choose a destination if desired. The setting must be enabled on each iOS device where you want uploads. Koofr’s iOS upload instructions state that before iOS 26.4 the feature works only when the Koofr app is open. Koofr also says background upload support is available with Koofr app 4.0.0 or later on iOS 26.4 or later, but iOS may delay or pause background activity. Keep files available without a connection
Cloud access and offline access are different. On Android, use Copy offline to keep a file in the Koofr app for offline viewing. When the device reconnects, Koofr updates that local copy. Remember that sync is not a separate backup
A sync keeps configured folders aligned, so changes and deletions can propagate between the paired locations. Do not treat a synced copy as an independent backup; this setup guidance does not establish Koofr retention or recovery guarantees.
