You can bring your existing number to Visible by requesting a port-in during signup or after activating Visible service with a temporary new number. Before you start, check that your phone is compatible and unlocked, get the exact account number and port-out PIN from your current carrier, and keep your old line active until Visible confirms the transfer is complete.
Before you start: check your number and phone
- Use Visible’s Portability Checker to check whether your number can be transferred. It can indicate whether a phone is paid off and unlocked, but it does not check account restrictions or port freezes set by your current carrier. If the carrier has a restriction or freeze, contact it to resolve the issue.
- Check your phone’s compatibility with Visible using its Compatibility Checker and the device’s IMEI. If the phone is locked, ask your current carrier about unlocking it before switching.
- Keep your current service active. Do not cancel the old account while the transfer is pending; according to Visible, the old account closes when the number transfer is complete.
Get the information your old carrier requires
Have these details ready before you submit the request:

- The phone number you want to keep.
- Your old carrier account number. This is not necessarily the phone number on the account.
- The carrier’s port-out PIN or transfer PIN.
- The service ZIP code associated with the old account.
Some carriers require additional information. Check Visible’s A to Z carrier list and confirm the current requirements with your carrier if anything is missing or does not work. Visible notes that carrier requirements can change without notice.

Activate your SIM or eSIM for your setup
Activation instructions depend on your phone, SIM type, and whether you are bringing your own device or using a new one. Visible’s instructions do not establish one sequence that applies to every setup: some eSIM paths require activating new service before requesting a transfer, while BYOD signup may offer a choice between transferring a number and getting a new one. Physical SIM activation follows its own steps.
Follow the current instructions for your specific setup rather than assuming the eSIM and physical SIM steps are interchangeable: activate Visible service on iPhone or activate Visible service on Android.

If you are already a Visible member moving service to another phone, that is different from transferring a number in from another carrier. Visible describes moving a physical SIM to another compatible phone, while eSIM service is transferred through the Visible app. See its Switching is SIMple instructions.
Track the port and keep your old line active
Visible estimates that a port-in may take from 1 hour to 10 days, depending on the previous carrier. This is Visible’s estimate, not a guaranteed completion time. Check Visible’s Port Tracker for progress, refresh the status, and respond promptly if it asks you to correct information. Visible says it may allow up to 10 attempts to correct porting details; a request that remains incomplete after 30 days is automatically canceled.

If the transfer is delayed or fails
- Open Visible’s Port Tracker and check whether it identifies an error or asks for updated information.
- Compare the submitted information with your old carrier’s records: the phone number, account number, port-out PIN, service ZIP code, account name, and any other details requested.
- Ask your old carrier to verify the account number and PIN, and check whether a restriction or port freeze is blocking the transfer.
- Correct and resubmit the details through the path Visible provides. If self-service does not resolve the problem, contact Visible Care.
Do not cancel the old account to try to force the transfer through. Visible says an incomplete request is automatically canceled after 30 days.

Wait for Visible’s notification that the transfer is complete. Then place an outgoing call and send a text using the transferred number. Follow the activation instructions for your phone and SIM type if you still need to finish device activation.
