Apple documents controls to enable or disable Apple Intelligence and to change Siri’s language, voice, activation and response behavior, but not a provider picker. Reporting about Qwen describes a China-focused integration plan without publishing a public iPhone migration procedure. For now, the practical choices are to use Apple Intelligence where your iPhone is eligible, turn it off, or access Qwen separately through a service or app that is available to you.
What “switching” would mean on an iPhone
There are two different changes people often call a switch:

- Turning Apple Intelligence off: this is an Apple-documented device setting.
- Replacing Apple’s models with Qwen as the system provider: no generally available iPhone setting for this is documented in the available Apple instructions or Qwen reporting.
Changing Siri’s voice, language or activation method changes how Siri behaves, not which underlying model or provider handles Apple Intelligence requests. A different voice therefore does not make Qwen your Siri.
Check eligibility before changing settings
Apple Intelligence availability depends on more than the iPhone’s name. Before troubleshooting a missing control, check all four conditions below.

1. iPhone model
Apple limits Apple Intelligence to supported hardware. Confirm that your particular iPhone model appears in Apple’s current compatibility information; the control will not be added to an unsupported device by changing language or region.
2. iOS version
Install the latest iOS version offered to your iPhone. Apple’s instructions and the wording of the control can change between releases, and the exact option shown also depends on whether Apple Intelligence has already been configured.
3. Device language and feature language
Apple lists language restrictions for Apple Intelligence. The language used by the iPhone and Siri must be one Apple currently supports for the features you want. A language change can affect availability, but it is not a Qwen selector.
4. Location and Apple Account country or region
Availability varies by geography and by the country or region attached to your Apple Account. Check both, because being physically in one country while the account is registered in another can produce a different result.

How to turn Apple Intelligence on or off
- Open Settings on the iPhone.
- Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Use the Apple Intelligence control shown on that page to enable or disable the feature.
- If the page asks you to complete setup, follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the configuration to finish before testing a feature.
The label and available choice can differ by iOS version and by whether Apple Intelligence was previously set up. If you do not see the menu, treat that as an eligibility or regional-availability issue first rather than evidence that a Qwen option is hidden elsewhere in Settings.
Why Siri settings do not switch models
The Siri controls in Settings are for the assistant’s operation: activation, language, voice and response behavior. They do not document choosing a third-party large-language model. You can change those controls while Apple Intelligence remains the same, and you can turn Apple Intelligence off without gaining a Qwen provider option.
This distinction matters because an iPhone can expose Siri settings even when Apple Intelligence is unavailable on that device or in that region. Seeing Siri does not prove that a system-level model selector exists.

Mainland-China restrictions
Apple’s stated rules create two separate cases:
iPhone purchased in mainland China
Apple says supported devices purchased in mainland China do not currently receive Apple Intelligence. In that situation, updating iOS or changing Siri’s voice will not make the Apple Intelligence control appear.

iPhone purchased outside mainland China
Apple also says Apple Intelligence will not currently work when the user is in mainland China and the Apple Account country or region is mainland China. The purchase location, current location and account region therefore all matter.
These are service-availability restrictions, not a documented route for replacing Apple Intelligence with Qwen. Do not interpret a missing Apple Intelligence menu as proof that Qwen has been installed as the replacement provider.
What is actually known about Qwen integration
Reporting has described Qwen as intended for integration into Apple Intelligence across Apple platforms for users in China. That reporting does not establish a public iPhone switch, a rollout date, a supported-device list, or an official migration workflow.

Availability, account requirements, language support and data-routing details for such an integration are not established by the available reporting.

Using Qwen when no system switch exists
If you need Qwen now, use a separate Qwen service or app only if it is officially available in your country and on your device. That approach is separate from Apple Intelligence:
- It will not replace Siri’s system provider.
- It will not make Apple Intelligence features appear on an ineligible iPhone.
- Its login, language, regional availability and privacy terms belong to that service, not to Apple’s Apple Intelligence settings.
Because a generally available iPhone integration procedure is not documented, avoid instructions that claim a hidden configuration profile, an unlisted Siri command or a region-only toggle can perform the switch.

Troubleshoot the common cases
Apple Intelligence is missing from Settings
- Confirm that the iPhone model is supported.
- Update to the latest iOS version available for that device.
- Check the iPhone language and the language used by Siri against Apple’s supported-language information.
- Verify your physical location and Apple Account country or region.
- If mainland-China purchase or account-region rules apply, recognize that the feature may be unavailable by design.
You can see Siri, but not Apple Intelligence
Siri availability and Apple Intelligence availability are not identical. Siri’s activation, voice and response settings do not prove that the device, language and region meet Apple Intelligence requirements.

Revert or keep the language you prefer, but do not expect that change to select another model. It only changes Siri’s language behavior and can alter feature eligibility if Apple does not support the selected language for Apple Intelligence.
You are in mainland China with a foreign-bought iPhone
Check both your current location and Apple Account country or region. Apple’s stated restriction covers the combination in which the user is in mainland China and the account country or region is mainland China, even for a device purchased elsewhere.
A Qwen app or service is unavailable
That is a separate service-availability problem, not an Apple Intelligence setting. Check whether the service is offered in your country and whether your device and account meet that service’s own requirements. The available evidence does not establish a universal iPhone Qwen app rollout.
What would count as a real Apple Intelligence–Qwen switch?
A genuine system-level switch would require an Apple-published provider control or setup flow that names Qwen, identifies supported iPhone models and iOS versions, explains country and account-region limits, and states how Siri and Apple Intelligence requests are routed. None of those user-facing details is documented in the available material.
