It is separate from the larger map’s quest experience; Activision’s September 30, 2025 guide says Survival has no quests or Easter Eggs. Your priorities are to keep an escape route open, use the barn’s elevation to create distance, restore power, and keep upgrading before the horde closes in.
What is Vandorn Farm Survival?
Survival follows the familiar Round-Based Zombies structure but confines players to one location within the larger map. On Vandorn Farm, that means holding the enclosed farmstead perimeter and enduring as many rounds as possible. Activision’s September 2025 deep dive describes the usual escape vehicle as out of commission and says players must restore power. The mode’s focus is the horde, not completing the broader Ashes of the Damned experience.

The Standard and Survival layouts are not interchangeable. Activision says machines and interactive objects outside the Standard-mode area are moved into Survival; Pack-a-Punch and Der Wunderfizz are examples. How should you move when the horde builds?
Keep an exit route open
Vandorn Farm leaves little room to kite a large horde. Activision’s map guide advises moving before danger cuts off the route out. Avoid waiting until you are surrounded to decide where to go: watch for the path that remains open and start moving while you still have room.

Use both levels
Move between the barn’s elevation and ground level to make pursuing zombies travel farther. Treat the change in height as a way to create separation, not as a permanent safe spot; plan your next route before committing to a level.
Use the Blade Trap as a contingency
The official guide calls out the Blade Trap as a tool to look for when survival is in danger. It does not specify timing or damage, so use it as one part of a movement plan rather than relying on an assumed activation window or treating it as a substitute for staying mobile. When should you stop fighting briefly to upgrade?
Each round increases the difficulty, so use any safe opening to improve your ability to handle later waves. Activision recommends keeping the upgrade process moving:

- Arsenal: raise weapon rarity using Salvage.
- Perk-a-Colas: buy perks that support the way you need to survive.
- Supplies: replenish what you need rather than spending every resource on weapon upgrades.
If one zombie remains and the area is manageable, Activision suggests using that brief window to buy upgrades. Do it quickly: the time is useful only while it remains safe. The real choice is between immediate safety and gaining time to strengthen your setup; the guide gives no quantitative ranking for that trade-off.

Which perks and equipment should you consider?
Activision’s November 2025 launch blog listed 12 launch Perk-a-Colas: Wisp Tea, Jugger-Nog, PhD Flopper, Elemental Pop, Melee Macchiato, Vulture Aid, Double Tap, Quick Revive, Deadshot Daiquiri, Death Perception, Stamin-Up, and Speed Cola. Its launch descriptions said Jugger-Nog increased maximum health, Stamin-Up increased movement speed, Quick Revive helped health recovery and ally revives, and Speed Cola sped up reloads and armor plating. These are launch-era descriptions, not confirmation of current balance or a best-perk ranking. Activision’s launch equipment and Augments overview has the original context.
Choose upgrades around the immediate problem: movement, staying power, or the time needed to reload and re-armor. Later Zombies content has been added, but Activision’s live Black Ops 7 seasons page does not establish whether Vandorn Farm’s balance has changed. No current optimal high-round build, weapon ranking, or round milestone is established by these map-specific recommendations.

How do you decide between moving, upgrading, and replenishing?
- If danger is close: prioritize the open route and create distance; do not delay movement to reach a machine.
- If you have a brief safe window: spend it on the upgrade that addresses your most immediate weakness, then return to moving.
- If supplies are running low: account for replenishment alongside Pack-a-Punch, rarity, and perks rather than assuming every resource should go to damage.
These are situational choices, not a fixed spending order. Activision’s guide supports the priorities but does not provide numerical comparisons between them.
