If you manage the website where user-generated content (UGC) appears, you can help Google discover eligible pages: request a crawl for a few URLs with Search Console, or submit a sitemap for a larger set. Neither route guarantees that Google will crawl or index a page.
What “submit UGC to Google” means
Google’s documented submission tools are for site owners and other authorized users managing the relevant website property. They help Google discover or revisit URLs on that site; they do not let a contributor submit a page on someone else’s site, and they are not a way to force a search result.

Start by deciding whether each UGC page should be public and useful to searchers. A forum thread, review, or community page may be appropriate for Search, while private, duplicate, empty, or spam-prone pages may not be. Make that decision before requesting a crawl or adding URLs to a sitemap.

| Route | Best suited to | Access and limits | What it does not guarantee |
|---|---|---|---|
| URL Inspection crawl request | A few newly published or updated pages | You need owner or full-user access to the relevant Search Console property; a quota applies. | Fast crawling or inclusion in search results. |
| Sitemap | Many URLs, a new site, or a site move | Submit through Search Console or its API, reference the sitemap in robots.txt, or submit an RSS or Atom feed as a sitemap. Each sitemap is limited to 50 MB uncompressed or 50,000 URLs. | That Google downloads the sitemap, crawls every URL, or indexes every page. |
Google says a crawl request can take a few days to a few weeks to be processed, and states that requesting a crawl does not guarantee inclusion in Search results (Ask Google to Recrawl Your Website). Repeatedly requesting the same URL does not make it crawl faster.

Before requesting discovery, check page eligibility
Discovery is only useful if Google can access a page and the page is suitable for indexing. Google’s technical requirements are a baseline, not an indexing promise: meeting them does not guarantee that a page will be indexed (Google Search Technical Requirements).
- Use a stable, public URL. Avoid publishing the same thread under changing or duplicate addresses.
- Allow Googlebot to crawl it. Check that robots.txt or another access control is not preventing Google from fetching a page intended for Search.
- Return HTTP 200. The URL should respond successfully rather than with an error, redirect loop, or inaccessible response.
- Include indexable content. The page should contain useful, accessible material rather than only a shell, empty form, or content hidden behind a sign-in requirement.
- Follow Search policies. Review the content and the way it is published before exposing it to Search.
Request a crawl for a few UGC pages
- Open Google Search Console and select the property that contains the UGC page. You must have owner or full-user access.
- Use URL Inspection to inspect the exact public URL you added or changed.
- If the inspection shows that the page is eligible for a crawl request, choose the option to request indexing or recrawling.
- Check the page again later rather than resubmitting repeatedly. Google gives a qualitative estimate of a few days to a few weeks, not a fixed service guarantee.
This is a crawl request, not a command to index the page. Google may decide not to crawl it promptly or include it in results.

Use a sitemap for many pages
For a forum, community site, or other property with many UGC URLs, maintain a sitemap containing the preferred canonical URLs you want Google to discover. Keep it current as pages are added, removed, or changed. If it grows beyond 50 MB uncompressed or 50,000 URLs, split it into multiple sitemap files. These are Google Search Central’s stated per-sitemap limits (Build and Submit a Sitemap).
You can make the sitemap available by submitting it in Search Console, using the Search Console API, referencing its location in robots.txt, or submitting an RSS or Atom feed as a sitemap. A sitemap is a discovery hint: Google may not download it, crawl every listed URL, or index every crawled page.

Keep UGC and its links within policy
UGC is not automatically a Search policy violation, but site owners are responsible for what their publishing features make available. Google’s examples of user-generated spam include spammy accounts on open hosting services, forum-thread posts, blog comments, and uploaded files (Spam Policies for Google Web Search). Review moderation, account controls, and whether low-quality pages should be publicly accessible.
For links contributed in comments and forum posts, Google recommends using rel="ugc" to identify user-generated links. Links from consistently trusted contributors may be treated differently where appropriate; see Qualify Outbound Links for SEO.

Keep pages out of Search when they should not appear
For private material, use access restrictions such as password protection. For a public page that should not be indexed, use an appropriate noindex directive or remove the content. Google must be able to crawl the page to read its meta robots or HTTP noindex instruction, so do not block Googlebot in robots.txt if you need Google to see that directive. Google does not support robots.txt as a way to specify noindex. For non-HTML files such as PDFs, an X-Robots-Tag response header can carry the instruction. See Control the Content You Share on Search.

Quick Recap
If a submitted page does not appear
- Confirm the URL is the preferred canonical version and loads publicly with an HTTP 200 response.
- Check that crawling is allowed and that the page is not marked noindex unintentionally.
- Review whether the page contains useful original content and complies with Google’s spam policies.
- For a sitemap, confirm that it is accessible, current, and within the file and URL limits.
- Allow time for crawling; submitting a URL or sitemap is not a guarantee of indexing.
