You can send a Wowza stream to LinkedIn Live, but LinkedIn now requires a scheduled Live Event: spontaneous broadcasting ended on June 22, 2026. For Wowza’s cloud service, follow its current Wowza Video workflow: schedule the LinkedIn event, add LinkedIn Live as a destination in Wowza Video, start the Wowza feed, check LinkedIn’s preview, then click Go live when you are ready to broadcast publicly. Wowza’s guide covers the cloud setup; Wowza Streaming Engine uses a separate manual RTMPS configuration.
Before you begin
- Confirm that your LinkedIn profile or Page is eligible to host a Live Event. To authorize Wowza Video for an organization Page, the LinkedIn user must be an administrator of that Page.
- Schedule the LinkedIn event before configuring the stream. LinkedIn discontinued spontaneous live broadcasts on June 22, 2026, so older directions to start a live broadcast without scheduling are out of date. A short-notice event can still be scheduled just a few minutes ahead. See LinkedIn’s announcement.
- Have access to the Wowza account and the LinkedIn account or Page that will host the event.
Schedule the LinkedIn Live Event and get its credentials
- In LinkedIn, open Live Studio and go to Manage streams. Create or open the scheduled event and prepare it when LinkedIn makes the controls available.
- Select a region and copy the event’s Stream URL and Stream Key if you are using custom RTMP. For Wowza Video’s LinkedIn destination integration, authorize LinkedIn and select the event destination there rather than pasting credentials into the Wowza Video steps.
- Observe the preparation window: LinkedIn says verified Pages can prepare two hours before the scheduled start; unverified Pages and profiles can prepare one hour before. Preview can run for up to two hours for verified Pages and ten minutes for unverified Pages and profiles.
Credentials and preview controls are described in LinkedIn’s custom-stream instructions. An incoming feed in Live Studio preview is not yet public. Do not select Go live until you intend to start the audience-facing broadcast.

Connect Wowza Video to LinkedIn Live
- Open the live stream in Wowza Video and select the Components tab.
- Open the menu on the highest output rendition available (up to 1080p) and select Add LinkedIn Live.
- Authorize Wowza Video with LinkedIn when prompted. Choose the personal account or organization Page that will host the event, then enter the destination details requested by Wowza.
- Select the region closest to the Wowza Video stream’s broadcast location. This is the destination configuration region; choose it based on where the Wowza stream is located, not simply where you are sitting.
- Save the destination. Start the Wowza Video stream when you are ready to send its feed to LinkedIn, then confirm that LinkedIn Live Studio shows a healthy preview.
- When the final broadcast is ready, click Go live in LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s instructions allow an event to go live up to 15 minutes before its scheduled time or as late as two hours after the scheduled start. End the stream in LinkedIn when finished.
Wowza Video’s destination integration is documented at Wowza: Stream to LinkedIn Live with Wowza Video. The order matters: starting Wowza sends the feed, while clicking LinkedIn’s Go live begins the public event.
Use a persistent key for recurring Page events, if appropriate
For recurring events on an organization Page, LinkedIn offers a Persistent Stream Key that can be reused for scheduled events until it is reset. A Page Content admin or Super admin must enable it. Personal profiles cannot use this option, and only one event can use the persistent key at a time. If you need two concurrent events, use the ordinary event-specific key for the second event. See LinkedIn’s Persistent Stream Key guidance.

Check the output settings before going live
Wowza’s LinkedIn guide, dated February 24, 2025, lists these limits and recommendations. LinkedIn can change encoder requirements, so verify its current settings before an important event.
| Setting | Wowza’s published LinkedIn guidance |
|---|---|
| Maximum resolution and frame rate | 1080p (1920 × 1080) at 30 frames per second |
| Keyframes | At least one I-frame every two seconds |
| Video bitrate | Recommended maximum 6000 Kbps |
| Audio | Recommended maximum 128 Kbps at a 48 kHz sample rate |
| Maximum live duration | Four hours |
These are vendor-published specifications, not independent measurements. The four-hour limit makes LinkedIn Live unsuitable for a continuous 24/7 stream, according to Wowza’s guide. Review Wowza’s technical guidance alongside LinkedIn’s encoder settings before the event.

Wowza Streaming Engine is a different setup
Wowza Streaming Engine is not configured through the Wowza Video Components destination flow above. Its LinkedIn workflow uses a manual RTMPS target, and the broadcaster must be approved for LinkedIn Live. Configure the target in Streaming Engine with the host, port, application, stream name, and SSL values provided for the LinkedIn event. Choose a LinkedIn ingest region near the Streaming Engine server instance. Follow the Engine-specific instructions rather than copying a Wowza Video UI path: Wowza Streaming Engine to LinkedIn Live.
Troubleshoot a stream that will not connect or preview
- No event controls or credentials: Confirm the event is scheduled and that its preparation window has opened. Check that the profile or Page is eligible to host Live Events.
- LinkedIn does not show the Wowza feed: Confirm the destination is saved and the Wowza stream has started. In Live Studio, check that you are viewing the same event and its preview. For Wowza Video, confirm the selected destination and region; for Streaming Engine, check its separately configured RTMPS target.
- RTMPS ingest connection fails: LinkedIn says RTMPS ports 2935 and 2936 should be available through the network or firewall. Check network rules and the endpoint configuration. See LinkedIn’s stream troubleshooting guidance.
- Connection is unstable: LinkedIn recommends a wired connection and at least 10 Mbps upload speed in its troubleshooting guidance. This is a support recommendation, not a guarantee of stream quality; the required headroom also depends on the outgoing bitrate and other network use.
- Feed connects but processing fails: Try the Baseline video profile. LinkedIn notes that High or Main profiles can introduce B-frames and timestamp problems.
- Selected region appears overloaded: Try another nearby region and check the preview again.
- Preview works but viewers cannot see the event: Preview is separate from the public broadcast. Click Go live in LinkedIn only when you are ready to begin, and confirm the event is within LinkedIn’s permitted live window.
- Event ends before a long broadcast is complete: LinkedIn’s maximum duration in Wowza’s guide is four hours. Plan a shorter event or use a different service for a continuous broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
