To play prerecorded videos in sequence on one continuing YouTube Live destination, send a feed from an encoder or a cloud playout service to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key. YouTube Studio can schedule encoder-based live events, but its documented scheduling controls do not establish a built-in service for automatically queuing prerecorded videos as a continuous channel. These are different setups. A scheduled event is a broadcast with its own start time and watch page. A continuous channel keeps one live destination running while prerecorded programs play in sequence. YouTube’s workflow supports scheduling encoder-based events, but the documented controls do not amount to a playlist scheduler for prerecorded files.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API separates the broadcast event (liveBroadcast) from the audiovisual feed (liveStream). Its documentation describes a 24/7 feed example and binding streams to broadcasts, but that resource model is not evidence that YouTube itself selects or schedules prerecorded files. For distinct events, YouTube Studio provides the event setup and controls; your encoder sends the audiovisual feed using the stream URL and key. The exact labels can vary as YouTube updates Studio, so follow the current Live Control Room prompts.

- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to enter the Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule it for the intended time.
- In the stream setup, get the YouTube stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: enter it only in your encoder, never publish it in a guide or share it publicly.
- Configure your encoder with the URL and key. Start sending the feed before the event, then check the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- When the preview is correct, use the scheduled broadcast controls to go live. Confirm that viewers can reach the stream on your channel and watch page.
- Monitor the picture and audio while the stream is running. When ending a scheduled event, end the stream in YouTube and stop sending from the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

How to make prerecorded videos play continuously
A conventional scheduled event setup does not itself create a queue of uploaded videos. For a continuous channel, the playout layer must decide what plays next and send that output to YouTube. Choose between a self-managed setup and a cloud service based on whether you want to operate the playback computer and encoder yourself.

Do it yourself with an always-on computer
- Prepare the videos in the order you want them played. Confirm that you have rights to stream their audio and video, and make a playlist or playout schedule in software that can feed an encoder. YouTube’s stream controls do not replace this playout step.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the broadcast and copy its stream URL and key. Store the key securely.
- Configure your playout software and encoder to output to YouTube using that URL and key. Set the encoder to continue sending one feed while the playlist advances. Test the playlist transition, audio levels and video before relying on it live.
- Start the encoder, inspect YouTube’s incoming preview, and use the broadcast controls to go live. Verify the live destination as a viewer would see it.
- Keep the computer, playout software, encoder and network connection running. Monitor the feed, and arrange a tested backup encoder or recovery plan for failures.
YouTube recommends setting up an encoder stream in advance, checking the preview, verifying the stream is reachable, monitoring audio and video, testing backup-encoder failover and checking that local archive files are being written. Its guidance says, “For higher production value events, we recommend professional-grade hardware encoders”; it does not say dedicated hardware is required or that an encoder schedules videos. Copyright, reused content and channel access
Before streaming prerecorded material, make sure you have permission to use every video, music track, image and other protected element. Having a copy of a recording does not by itself establish streaming rights. YouTube may identify copyrighted material during a live stream; a claim or restriction can interrupt the broadcast or affect the channel.

- Use your own material or material licensed for live streaming on YouTube, and keep records of permissions where appropriate.
- Check the license scope: permission for an upload, private screening or another platform may not cover a continuous public live stream.
- Review YouTube’s current monetization and reused-content policies separately. Technical ability to loop a video does not establish that a channel or video qualifies for monetization.
- Do not assume a playlist, encoder or cloud service clears rights or prevents claims; those tools handle playback and delivery, not ownership.
Also protect the stream key. YouTube describes it as the credential that lets an encoder send the feed. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement. The key reset and stream settings are covered in YouTube’s encoder instructions.
Reliability checks before relying on a continuous stream
- Preview before going live: confirm the incoming feed has the expected video and audio.
- Verify viewer access: open the channel or watch page and make sure the live destination is reachable.
- Test the playlist: observe at least one transition between prerecorded items and listen for silence, clipping or mismatched audio.
- Test recovery: if using a backup encoder or cloud service, verify the failover behavior rather than assuming it works.
- Check local recording: if you rely on an archive, confirm the encoder is writing its local files.
- Plan for interruptions: no setup should be treated as guaranteed uninterrupted; monitor the feed and know how to restart it.
YouTube offers auto-start and auto-stop settings for streams, but these settings should not be mistaken for a scheduler that chooses and plays a playlist of prerecorded videos.

Troubleshooting
