You can keep Sanskrit shlokas playing on YouTube Live by looping a prepared audio or video source in FFmpeg and sending the output to the RTMPS address and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. The loop repeats the media; your computer, FFmpeg process, and internet connection still need to remain available for the broadcast to continue.
Choose the source arrangement before building the stream
FFmpeg needs a defined input and output: a prepared video, audio paired with a still image, or a sequence of recordings. The right loop method depends on that arrangement and on the formats supported by your installed FFmpeg build. There is no single command that safely fits every source layout.

One video with its own audio
Use this when the visual and chant audio are already combined in one file and should repeat together. Check that the file’s end and beginning make an acceptable transition; looping cannot smooth an abrupt cut or silence that is already in the recording.

Use the chant recording as the audio source and provide artwork as the visual source. Verify that the image does not freeze or disappear and that the audio remains synchronized at the repeat point.

A sequence of recordings
For a curated sequence, define the playback order and how the playlist advances or repeats. A playlist is not the same as looping one file: test transitions between every item, including differences in silence, loudness, sample rate, and duration. FFmpeg’s input-loop behavior is option- and input-dependent; consult the FFmpeg documentation for the installed version and the specific input format.
Inspect and prepare the media
- Identify the inputs. Establish whether each source is audio-only, video with audio, or artwork plus audio. Check duration, codecs, sample rate, channel layout, and whether the visual needs to change.
- Pick an output canvas and frame rate. A low-motion devotional stream generally does not need a high frame rate, but use a resolution and frame rate supported by YouTube and that your machine can encode continuously.
- Choose a repeat method for the actual input. Apply input-scoped FFmpeg options before the input they affect. Confirm the behavior with a short run rather than assuming a loop flag applies to every format or playlist.
- Listen and watch across the loop boundary. Check for a gap, clipped syllable, abrupt change in loudness, black frame, frozen image, or mismatched audio and video duration. Adjust or prepare the source files if needed.
FFmpeg’s official documentation covers its protocols and format handling, but the exact command depends on the files, desired composition, operating system, and build. Validate your input and output rather than copying an unrelated command line.

Set encoder output to match YouTube
YouTube’s live encoder guidance, accessed October 3, 2026, lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and frame rates up to 60 fps. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. The bitrate figures below are for H.264 at the specified resolution and frame rate—not universal settings for other codecs or formats.
| H.264 output | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube-listed recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
Use the matching row in YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate; the table may change. These are ingestion recommendations, not a promise of viewer quality or a complete upload-speed target. Leave stable network headroom above the selected bitrate. YouTube transcodes incoming live streams for viewers, so test the actual result rather than judging only the encoder’s local preview.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Connect FFmpeg to the correct YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then open the stream’s settings and reveal the RTMPS URL and stream key.
- Use the values for that stream. The URL and key may be separate fields in an encoder or combined in the form
STREAM_URL/STREAM_NAME. The YouTube Live Streaming API calls these valuesingestionAddressandstreamName; do not reuse an old example’s server address or key. - Configure FFmpeg for RTMPS when supported. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP over TLS/SSL. Its RTMPS instructions explain where to find the endpoint. The API documents the primary RTMPS ingestion address at LiveStreams: YouTube Live Streaming API.
- Keep the stream key private. Do not put it in a public repository, screenshot, or shared log. Treat it as a credential that can allow someone else to send video to your stream.
If connection troubleshooting reports an SSL problem, confirm that both the selected protocol and server address are correct. YouTube’s RTMPS help page suggests trying port 443 when appropriate. A loop flag repeats media; it does not reconnect a broken network path or restart a stopped FFmpeg process.
Test the broadcast, then monitor it
- Run a short test with the same audio, image or video, output settings, and network you plan to use. YouTube recommends testing before the live stream and using representative sound and movement.
- Check the YouTube preview and listen to the chant. Inspect stream health and any messages in Live Control Room, and verify the loop transition—not only the first few seconds.
- Once the test is sound, start the intended broadcast. Keep the host powered, the network stable, and a way to monitor and stop or restart FFmpeg available for the planned duration.
YouTube recommends monitoring stream health during the event, but neither a repeated input nor a successful test guarantees uninterrupted uptime. The FFmpeg process must continue producing valid output, and the computer and its network path must stay operational.

Copyright and channel-policy checks for devotional streams
Only stream chant performances, recordings, translations, artwork, and video that you own or are authorized to broadcast. The fact that a Sanskrit text is devotional or old does not establish the rights status of a particular modern performance, recording, translation, or image. The sources for this setup do not determine whether any specific item may be rebroadcast.
Also review YouTube’s current rules for live streaming and monetization before relying on a continuous loop. A technically valid stream does not itself establish that the channel or its content is eligible for monetization.
