To keep recorded Advent services playing on YouTube around the clock, feed them through a YouTube Live encoder workflow using a prepared playlist or other playback source, and assign someone to monitor it. A 24-hour live stream is not a dependable 24-hour replay: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as archives, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. If viewers need reliable access to individual services later, use shorter live sessions and keep local recordings—or publish the services on demand.
Choose what “around the clock” needs to mean
First decide whether the goal is a continuously live player, a replay viewers can watch later, or both. Those are separate outcomes: keeping a stream live does not guarantee YouTube will save the whole broadcast or let viewers rewind through it.

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its DVR guidance separately warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. It does not promise an archive for a stream lasting exactly 12 hours, so leave a margin if archives matter. Keep a local copy even for shorter sessions, then check that the YouTube replay exists and set its visibility intentionally.

1. Audit the recordings and rights
Make an inventory of each service’s music, readings, sermon, slides, photographs, video clips, and guest or performer contributions. Confirm that the church’s permissions cover streaming on YouTube and the intended uses of any archive or rebroadcast. The answer depends on the church’s actual rights documents, intended territories, and the applicable terms; a general platform checklist cannot determine whether a particular license is sufficient.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit the live content, including music rights. Do not assume that a “free” music label means a track is cleared for this use. YouTube points creators to options such as its Audio Library, original music, Creator Music in eligible regions, or third-party music whose license has been checked; none automatically establishes that the church has the rights it needs for a particular service and use.
2. Confirm channel eligibility and prepare the event
Before announcing a stream, verify the church’s YouTube channel and check its current live-stream status in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s setup guidance says a channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Platform rules can change, so check the current YouTube live-stream setup guidance and any notices in Studio before the event.

- Create or schedule the live event: In YouTube Studio, set up the broadcast and review its visibility and event details before sharing it with the congregation.
- Connect the encoder: For encoder streaming, use the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube’s stream settings. Enter them into the selected encoder or playback workflow. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it beyond the people who need access, and replace it if it is exposed.
- Prepare the playback source: Queue the recordings in the order you want them to play. YouTube supports encoder streaming, but its guidance does not specify or endorse a particular program for looping prerecorded videos. Choose a playback method that can repeat the material and test it rather than assuming a playlist will loop correctly.
- Set output using current guidance: Use the settings shown for the event in YouTube Studio and the requirements of the encoder or playback program you selected. There is no single bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe setting established here for every recording and encoder combination; do not copy a preset that does not match your source and setup.
- Start early and inspect the preview: Check that the event is accessible from the channel and watch pages and on a mobile device. Confirm that audio is present, levels are usable, the picture is stable, and the correct service is playing.
YouTube lists encoder, mobile, and webcam streaming as options. It recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but that is not a requirement to rebroadcast recordings, and YouTube’s guidance does not establish a particular model as necessary.

If the priority is a player that remains live, you can plan a continuous broadcast, but do not describe it as a guaranteed full-day replay or promise a full-day rewind window. If a replay for each service matters more, schedule separate sessions that are comfortably under 12 hours, end them deliberately, and retain the original files locally. Short sessions can be automatically archived; verify each replay rather than treating automatic archiving as certain.

4. Test the entire chain before sharing the link
Run a rehearsal with the actual recordings and equipment. Confirm that playback moves from one service to the next and repeats as intended, that sound stays present, and that the encoder can reconnect after a planned interruption. Also check that a local recording is being written and can be opened. These checks reduce operational surprises; they are not a guarantee that YouTube or a particular encoder will recover from every failure.
- Confirm the preview shows the right recording and has audible sound.
- Open the event from the channel or watch page and from a phone.
- Check the local recording file while the event is running, then verify that it plays.
- Monitor audio and video during the broadcast, and assign a person to respond to problems.
- After a session, verify whether a YouTube replay was created and choose its visibility.
Tell viewers whether they are watching a continuous live feed, a scheduled service, or an archived recording. That distinction helps set expectations about when a service begins and whether it can be replayed later.

Copyright, interruptions, and channel rules
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the live image, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. If the church has permission to use third-party material, YouTube says the relevant rights owner may need to add the channel to its allowlist; a license by itself may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. An archived live stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends.
