There are two different ways to make yoga sessions play continuously on YouTube. To repeat videos already uploaded to YouTube, turn on Loop in the playlist player; this repeats playback for the viewer but does not create a live broadcast. To make a live event from prerecorded files, use an encoder such as OBS to play one video or a playlist of files and send that output to YouTube Live.
Choose the kind of continuous playback you need
| Approach | What repeats | Best for | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube playlist Loop | Videos already uploaded to YouTube | Viewers who want to replay a collection in the YouTube player | It does not create a live event. |
| OBS Media Source | One local prerecorded video | Broadcasting one class as a live stream | It requires a computer running OBS and a reliable upload connection. |
| OBS VLC Video | A sequence of local video files | Broadcasting multiple classes in a chosen order | It requires VLC installed, OBS running, and YouTube Live credentials. |
Loop an existing YouTube playlist
If the sessions are already uploaded and the goal is simply for people to watch them repeatedly, use YouTube’s playlist player:

- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist box beside or below the video.
- Select Loop.
YouTube will repeat the playlist in that player. This is a viewer-side playback setting, not a channel-wide live broadcast, so it will not appear as a live event.

Broadcast one prerecorded yoga session as a live stream with OBS
Check channel eligibility first
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help, so do not leave activation until the day you plan to broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.

- 1/2 inch thickness offers comfortable padded support and shock absorption; textured surface provides extra traction
- Durable foam construction offers stretchability and springs back into shape
- Elastic strap for secure rolled-up mat storage and easy over-the-shoulder carrying

Create the YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule the event and choose the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
YouTube’s encoder workflow connects using that server URL and key. Keep the key private, and reset it in YouTube if it is exposed. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Configure OBS for one looping file
- Install and open OBS Studio. In the Sources box, select + > Media Source.
- Name the source, select the yoga video file, and enable Loop in its properties so playback restarts when the file ends.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key (or select the option to use a custom server and enter YouTube’s server URL and key, depending on the OBS workflow shown).
- Set the canvas and output resolution to match the session you intend to broadcast. Choose a frame rate and bitrate that your connection can sustain; use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for the chosen resolution rather than guessing at a universal bitrate.
- Start the event’s preview in Live Control Room, then select Start Streaming in OBS. Confirm the preview appears and the audio and picture are correct before making the event public or relying on it for a long session.
OBS Media Source supports common formats including MP4, TS, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, and WebM, and is documented for Windows, macOS, and Linux. If a file does not load, check its format and that the media path points to a file accessible on the computer. See OBS Media Sources documentation.

Broadcast a sequence of prerecorded sessions
For several local files, use OBS’s VLC Video source instead of adding individual Media Sources and managing transitions yourself.
- Install VLC. The source will not appear in OBS without VLC installed; OBS specifically notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In OBS, select Sources > + > VLC Video Source.
- Add the yoga files to the playlist in the order you want them played.
- Leave Loop Playlist enabled to repeat the sequence. Shuffle is off by default, so the listed order is retained unless you change it.
- Connect OBS to YouTube Live with the stream URL and key, then test the preview and sound before starting the broadcast.
See OBS’s media-source documentation for the VLC Video source details.

Test the stream and plan for long broadcasts
Check the outgoing connection
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable: other devices using the same connection can reduce available capacity. Set up ahead of time, inspect the Live Control Room preview, check the stream on the watch page and a mobile device, and monitor picture and audio. YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting and streaming tips cover these checks.
Do not rely on YouTube to retain a complete long archive
YouTube says it can automatically archive livestreams shorter than 12 hours. Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a complete replay, record a local backup rather than relying on the YouTube archive. DVR can let viewers pause and resume, but YouTube warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including those over 12 hours. See YouTube’s livestream archive guidance and DVR guidance.

Clear rights and label the stream honestly
Before broadcasting, confirm you have the necessary rights for every part of each session: the instructor’s video and voice, music, and any other third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to comply with applicable laws and have the necessary rights, including music rights for worldwide use on Google services. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and its live-streaming policies.
Give the playlist and live event titles and descriptions that accurately identify what viewers will see. If the broadcast is prerecorded yoga sessions, do not present it as a live class or imply that an instructor is teaching in real time. YouTube says playlists must not mislead viewers about their contents; see YouTube playlist policies.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- Live Control Room will not let you go live: verify the channel and check for live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. If this is your first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- OBS connects but YouTube shows no picture: confirm the correct scene is selected, the Media Source points to the intended file, and the stream key and server URL match the current event.
- The video plays once and stops: open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source.
- VLC Video source is missing: install VLC and ensure its architecture matches OBS; OBS documents that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- Video or audio stutters: check that the upload connection has YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate, reduce the output demand if needed, and check the preview and watch page before restarting the event.
- The recording is missing or incomplete afterward: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, and DVR rewind may be limited. Keep a local recording if full retention matters.
