First confirm the channel is eligible and live streaming is activated; YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Before broadcasting, check the rights to the recording and everything embedded in it, and keep a local copy because YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance sets a minimum age of 16. YouTube live-streaming eligibility
- Live streaming enabled on the channel. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until broadcast time. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- The class video file and an encoder app or hardware device that can send it to YouTube Live. YouTube supports both encoder types; the specific file-loop controls depend on the encoder you choose. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- A stable upload connection with capacity for the stream bitrate and extra headroom. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth 20% above the total stream bitrate. YouTube streaming tips
- Permission to stream the recording and its included material, including music, slides, photos, readings, or recorded performances.
How to set up the prerecorded YouTube Live stream
- Activate and check the channel. Verify the channel, confirm there is no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and enable live streaming in advance. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available. Check YouTube’s eligibility requirements
- Create the stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling lets you promote the event and offer reminders. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- Connect the encoder. In the stream’s settings, copy the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: it lets the encoder send a feed to your channel. Do not share or publish it. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- Set up playback in the encoder. Select the class file and configure the encoder to repeat it if you want a continuous loop. Loop controls are encoder-specific, so consult that encoder’s current documentation. The right resolution, bitrate, and other output settings depend on the source file, encoder, connection, and your chosen implementation; there is no single setting established for every setup here.
- Check the preview before going live. Start the encoder’s feed and wait for it to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Check the picture and sound, and confirm that the class begins and ends where you intend. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- Verify the viewer experience. Check the event on your channel and watch page, then open it on a second device or mobile connection. Monitor audio and video continuously while it is live. YouTube streaming tips
Plan the session length and preserve a copy
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. If the class is running in a long loop, do not rely on the YouTube archive as your only recording. Keep a local copy of the class file and, if you need a separate archive of the broadcast, record one locally. YouTube also recommends a local archive backup. YouTube archive guidance

You can plan shorter sessions or preserve a separate local recording according to your needs, but splitting a broadcast does not guarantee that every stream will be archived or avoid every platform limit. A local drive is an optional backup choice, not a YouTube requirement.
Check copyright and permissions before streaming
A live label does not make a class recording copyright-safe. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. It may show a placeholder and warn you; if the matched material remains, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a licence, a rights owner may need to allowlist your channel in Content ID to prevent a match from interrupting the stream. YouTube guidance on live-stream copyright

For an Indian coaching class, check rights in the recording as a whole and in material incorporated into it: background music, slides, images, excerpts, readings, and recorded performances. India’s Copyright Act, 1957 includes communication to the public among the rights associated with literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works and films. That framework does not determine whether a particular class, licence, or educational use is lawful; for a fact-specific question, seek qualified legal advice. Copyright Act, 1957

Live streaming and monetization are separate questions
Being able to broadcast a recording does not guarantee that the channel or stream qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s reused-content policy addresses material repurposed from YouTube or other online sources without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Reviewers may assess the channel as a whole, and the policy applies to live streams as well as videos. For your own coaching classes, make authorship and original contribution clear and check YouTube’s current policy; a loop by itself does not establish acceptance or rejection. Copyright permission and reused-content monetization are distinct issues. YouTube channel monetization policies

Keep the broadcast reliable
Bandwidth and monitoring
- Check upload capacity at the actual broadcast location. YouTube recommends 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. YouTube streaming tips
- Set up the encoder ahead of time and start early enough to see the incoming preview before the scheduled start.
- Listen to the preview, confirm that the intended class file is playing, and keep checking audio and video during the broadcast.
- Verify that the stream can be watched from the channel/watch page and a mobile device.
Encoder choice
YouTube supports encoder software and hardware devices. Software runs on a computer; a hardware encoder is a separate device. Neither category is universally best for prerecorded looping: check the product’s current documentation for file repetition, restart behavior after a network interruption, local recording, monitoring, and alerts. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not establish that every encoder offers those capabilities.

Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | The channel is not eligible, live streaming is not enabled, or first-time activation is still processing. | Check verification and restrictions, enable live streaming, and allow up to 24 hours for first activation. Eligibility guidance · Encoder setup |
| YouTube does not show an incoming preview | The encoder may not be sending to the correct stream, or the server URL or stream key may be incorrect. | Compare the encoder’s configured server URL and key with the values for the selected stream in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private. Encoder setup |
| The stream stutters or drops | The upload connection may not have enough capacity for the stream bitrate and headroom. | Check the connection at the broadcast location and compare its available upload bandwidth with the bitrate; YouTube recommends 20% additional capacity. Monitor the preview and audio/video. Streaming tips |
| The live picture is replaced, interrupted, or terminated | YouTube may have detected third-party content, or a rights owner may not have allowlisted the channel in Content ID. | Review the match and confirm that you have rights to all included material; contact the rights owner about allowlisting where appropriate. Live-stream copyright guidance |
| The replay is missing after a long loop | The broadcast may have exceeded 12 hours; YouTube says longer streams may not be captured. | Keep a local recording or source-file backup rather than relying only on the YouTube archive. Archive guidance |
